Fantastic apartment not far from the heart of Rome

  • 4 of 5

Our week in Rome was an amazing time and this apartment was a good base from which to explore. The owner Davide is friendly and speaks decent English, helping with advice on transport and shopping and answering all our questions.

If you don't mind walking, the apartment is 20 min from the Borghese Gallery, 40 min from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. The Colosseum and Vatican are a little further afield, but you can get about in Rome using buses, trams and taxis. Just take care crossing the roads!

We visited the major sights, most have security checks and x-ray procedures, but be sure to pre-book tours and skip queues for the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica, as well as the Colosseum, Forum, Palatine Hill and Caesar's Palace, while the Borghese Gallery is online pre-booking only. The Pantheon's free and well worth seeing, as are the various Piazzas (Navona, Venezia, and del Popolo) and countless impressively-decorated churches, with statues by Bernini, etc. We saw the Cento Pittori (100 Painters) openair art exhibition on Via Margutta, and managed also to see the Pope while he was in town (the square was packed).

The self-catering apartment is in a quiet area, 5 min walk from a good supermarket and various bars and restaurants. It is equipped with excellent free and unlimited WiFi, so Netflix etc stream perfectly, but necessary, as the current small TV only shows Italian channels (an improvement Davide assures is coming) and has no HDMI input for Firesticks etc, so we used our iPad. The kitchen has a fridge, microwave and a quick 2-ring electric hob, but no oven; though there are adequate utensils and crockery, so you can cook if you wish. The bathroom is decent, hot water capacity good.

Overall I gave it 4 stars but having only just started up a couple of months ago, Davide has made and is making good improvements to the place, and I'm sure it will then deserve 5.

With a late evening flight back, we used BagBnB to find somewhere to stow luggage as Baggage at Termini Station is massively over-subscribed (queues over an hour to drop off, and same to pick up). Pre-booked airport bus transfers using Terravision proved terribly unreliable, and while having not looked into trains, we think it may be wiser and far easier just to pay extra for a taxi.

Davide will be at the apartment to greet you when you arrive!

Owner's Response: As told the guests the house is "a good base to visit Rome", well connected by buses and underground to the heart of the city in a safe and elegant district. I started to host in July and In the next months I'll improve the apartment with somke new things starting with a larger Tv with HDMI port (every suggestions is well appreciated). The first thing for me is to give a cosy and clean place where stay good after have spent a day visiting Rome. I promise, I'm going to improve my english to speak fluently with new future guests.

Via Volsinio is parallel to Via Sebino.

To get from the airports of Fiumicino and Ciampino, take the Terravision bus to Rome Termini train station; from there you can choose the bus 92-310-N13 line to stop Sebino and 50mt you to the apartment; or B1 line underground to SANT'AGNESE / Annibaliano and from there in 500 mt you to the apartment.

The Trieste neighborhood is an elegant and residential district close to the center of Rome, surrounded by the green of Villa Ada and Villa Torlonia.

- Metro station B1 Annibaliano Square is 5/10 minutes from the Colosseum, St. Peter's 10/15 and 5/10 minutes from Termini Station.

- Bus 63 stop Via Nemorense (50 mt from the house) takes you to Piazza Venezia, and from there to the Roman Forum, Via del Corso and the Trevi Fountain.

- On foot you can go to Viale Libya excellent for shopping or Via Veneto, the symbol of "La Dolce Vita".

At 50 meters from the front door there is a bus stop with 6 lines daily and 1 night line that all lead to the center of Rome; Piazza Verbano there is also a taxi rank.

A 5/10 minutes there is the stop of the Metro B1 St. Agnes / Annibaliano.

The district offers rooms to make drinks or eat and numerous local after dinner.

To visit the famous Coppedè district, 400 meters from home, I recommend a walk to observe the architecture of the buildings, really special and unique.
