Overview

About the property

3 en suite bedrooms (two with double beds, one with twin beds)

This property is in a unique setting in the grounds of Foxdale which is a 260 acre farm. The farm is the home of Oasby Horse Trials which is in March and Occtober each year. You can bring your pets, even horses if you wish. There is grazing and stabling if required. The village of Oasby is a pretty mainly stone location with the pub The Houblon Inn at its heart - a short walk from the cottage. The cottage certainly has the "wow" factor with a lovely duck egg blue colour scheme throughout. Everyone who stays has a delightful time

About Mrs Gill Wild

Nigel and I have been married for 35 years and bought Foxdale in 1992 building our house then but the cottage was originally a farm building which we converted in 2007. Nigel is a Land Agent and Chartered Surveyor and we have grown up two children - James who is married to Rebecca with children Oliver 6 and phoebe 4 and Kate who married her vet fiance in June 2015. Kate is an Interior Designer in London.

Mrs Gill Wild purchased this cottage in 1992

Why Mrs Gill Wild chose Grantham

We always loved Oasby when we lived two miles away when we first got married and were determined to end up living here.

What makes this cottage unique

The pub is a vital part of the village - we actually own the property which is let to John Blenkiron who was trained by Marco Pierre White so the food is exceptional. The farm offers lovely walks if you want to bring your dogs and horses are also welcome. We can provide lovely rides around the area with stop off pubs where you could stable horses over your lunch hour.

Comfortable and quiet cottage in the country.

  • 5 of 5

Honeysuckle cottage was perfect for our quiet weekend with friends. Very clean and comfortable, with extra little touches such as wine and chocolates. Lovely walks in the surrounding countryside and good pubs and restaurant not far away.

Large, roomy, comfortable, warm (we needed the heat!) quiet. friendly/helpful host/hostess.

Delightful location. Well equipped. Not fully disabled-friendly i.e. the walk-in free-standing shower had a high step into it and there were no grab handles. Someone in a wheelchair would find difficulty in accessing this shower. Needs new kitchen mixer tap as so small water can barely flow into washing-up bowl so we used the tiny sink between the main sink and the draining board. A dish drainer would be useful. Otherwise property was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Owners resolved a security issue with patio doors unbelievably speedily.

Very relaxing cottage, great to get away from it all. Very friendly hosts. Secure garden for our dog. Plenty of historic houses nearby - Grimsthorpe Castle is worth a visit. Recommended.

A definite 5 star property

  • 5 of 5

From start to finish the at this property was fantastic. The accommodation was perfect. Everything that we needed to use was provided (even a slow cooker). It also had soft towels and toiletries provided (something we weren't expecting). The owners Gill and Nigel made us feel very welcome and we will most certainly be returning in the not to distant future.
