2 Ivy Cottages is a beautiful stone built Isle of Wight character cottage in a peaceful rural location on the edge of the hamlet of Billingham. Located around a 10 minute drive from the nearby villages of Shorwell, Chale and Godshill where there is a choice of shops and charming eateries, the central island location of this cottage is ideal to explore all that the Isle of Wight has to offer.

This period cottage was extended in 2006 and provides spacious accommodation for up to 8 people - ideal for large family occasions or holidays with friends. And the family dog can come too – up to 3 well behaved dogs accepted at a cost of £15 per dog. The cottage has parking for up to 4 vehicles, a huge enclosed lawned garden with picnic table & chairs, swings and a playbarn. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside there is a public footpath to Kingston and Shorwell which is accessed directly through the garden gate. Cycles can be stored in the playbarn.

Guests enter through the front door into a charming hallway which leads, on the ground floor, to an open plan living & dining area and kitchen, a family bathroom and utility room. Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms, a twin bedroom, a bunk bed room and a spacious shower room, all with fantastic countryside views. Note the staircase is steep with a 90 degree turn halfway up so may be difficult for those with limited mobility (stair gates in place for children). Furnished to a high standard and with double glazing, central heating and a log burner this cottage is suitable for holidays and short breaks all year round.

Guests staying for 7 nights or more are welcomed with a hamper including local island produce. A typical hamper will include milk, apple juice, bread, butter/spread, Isle of Wight Blue Cheese, jam/preserve, cake, biscuits and seasonal flowers (items can be swapped on request). A starter pack of coffee, tea & sugar is also provided. A basket of logs is provided in winter only.

Lovely country property, spacious but cosy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - two couples, one single, one baby - and hope to come again soon. The cottage is in beautiful and rural countryside, yet not too far to drive from anywhere - the Island being pretty small! Rooms and beds very comfortable and we loved the wood-burning stove. Really nice. My only caveat would be that the stairs would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues - not a problem for any of us, but something to be aware of.

The steep staircase is being addressed in a planned refurbishment of the cottage. In the meantime guests should be aware not only is the staircase steep but it also has a 90 degree turn halfway up so may be difficult for those with limited mobility (stair gates in place for children).

absolutely brilliant

Spotlessly clean and well supplied with everything we needed. We especially liked the coffee cake left for us when we got there (don't know where it came from but it was delicious.Lots of space for us all, can't wait to return

Spacious and comfortable home from home

Lovely cottage with a delicious welcome pack. The house is roomy and well furnished and the garden is perfect for lively dogs. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room comfortable and attractive. We enjoyed the power showers and the bedrooms were airy with very comfortable beds. The location is ideal for exploring the island. We had a fantastic stay.
