About the property

Snowdonia Villas or ‘Tanrallt’ as it is known locally, is a sympathetically restored Georgian townhouse situated on a hill a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of the historic market town of Dolgellau, at the foot of Cader Idris. It is a sister property to Ffynnon, a multi-award-winning boutique hotel with spa, restaurant and off-road parking facilities which guests are welcome to use.

Whether you choose to curl up with a good book from the library, enjoy alfresco living on the sunny terrace or relax with a massage or hot-tub session, it is the perfect base from which to explore the Snowdonia National Park or enjoy time with family and friends.

Dolgellau's quirky shops, craft ale pubs and Good Food Guide restaurants are less than a 2 minutes’ walk and popular attractions such as Cardigan Bay’s golden beaches, Coed y Brenin forest park, Zipworld and the National Whitewater Centre are only a short drive away.

Set over four floors with magnificent views over the town and mountains beyond, this luxurious holiday home boasts many original features and has been refurbished with designer fabrics, antique furniture and all mod-cons. It provides spacious accommodation for up to 4 people and comprises a well-equipped basement kitchen/diner and utility room; ground floor with large hallway, cloakroom and elegant lounge with wood-burner; 2 large double bedrooms (1 can be set up as a twin); shower room and a games room. There is also a well-stocked books, games and DVD library on the second floor.

Outside is a secluded raised terrace area with dining furniture and barbeque to the front; a bike storage area and ample on-road parking. Luggage can be loaded and unloaded on the roadside outside the property.

Disappointing

The property is not geared to 5 people as most items there was only 4 of. It is not well stocked with items in the kitchen as discribed on the website. No welcome back was supplied. Generally my impression was that the new owners were skimping. This was also backed up by the fact that the website had not been changed to reflect the change of ownership. This was called shame because it could have been so much better with a little effort. It is also disappointing that when a property is used by owners with pets that the owners are not responsible arriving to dog poo in the garden was not a good star.

Great location

A minutes walk to the centre of the village Plenty of room over 4 floors for everyone. Well equipt kitchen A Senso coffee machine provided but no supermarkets stock the pods so bring your own! Slightly damp in areas of the house but heating is efficient. Loads of books and games! Half an hour to most organised activities - Go Below was really authentic and Snowdonia Canyoning with Charlie and George a must Harlec Castle coffee shop has amazing views! Had an awesome week - we loved it - will be back!

Lovely quirky character property with great views over Dolgellau and surrounding countryside

Wonderful peaceful stay in a great property that has everything you'll need.. great to be able to park in neighbouring Ffynnon car park with our campervan.. great base for exploring local beaches, Coed y brenin mountain bike trails and Mawdach estuary trail.. would definitely stay again!

Fantastic townhouse in a great location

Very tastefully decorated and equipped with everything you will need. Only a short stay in Dolgellau but you could spend all week just relaxing on the terraced garden with the BBQ overlooking the town.

A good size property with lots of character, and tremendous views!

Had a great time at this property. Lovely sized bedrooms with great views to wake up to. Good location being just a couple of minutes walk into town and great local facilities. Loved the bathroom with its lovely deep bath and walk in shower. Always plenty of hot water. The kitchen could be a little on the cold side but you just have to adapt to that. Would highly recommend a stay here. (Possibly some sort of welcome basket of some basic goodies which we have usually found at other properties would have been appreciated, and be prepared for a steep walk up the road to the property)

Fantastic place within walking distance of town and with great views beyond - watch the hill!

Great character property with lovely blend of old and new, clean and well equipped.

Lovely kitchen/diner in cellar, gorgeous living room with log burner and the separate loo on ground floor, large bedroom on first floor with the second bedroom, games room/bedroom and bathroom on second floor.

Great location up on hill so fantastic views and not too far to walk downhill into town. Town is quaint with some good places to eat and drink and some walks along river. Great place to explore the rest of the national park from.

On our visit the internet was down (a storm had taken the telephone line down) but am assured that ordinarily its great speed

Warning - Its on a very steep hill (as per the details) which isn't a problem for most but could be for elderly or those with pushchairs etc. Unpacking the car was interesting as you need to unpack and then park elsewhere - make sure your handbrake is good!
