An earlier defensive fortress, which now is a complete holiday home.

El Castell de Fonollét was back in time a defensive fortress – now it is a completely renovated holiday home of very high standard. If you are looking for something special that is also very comfortable, luxurious and private, this house is perfect.

The pool area is very well designed: It is a courtyard, surrounded by the original ring wall with the pool of 40 m2 centrally located. In addition, there are, by the pool area, two covered terrace areas. One of them has an outdoor kitchen with refrigerator, sink, utensils and gas grill. This is very nice when you want to enjoy the warm evening sun. The second area is dedicated to relaxation. Here, you can enjoy the shade in the chill-out area’s comfortable seating furniture when the sun is high in the sky. You can of course also cool off in the pool - something that the children probably will enjoy much. There is also a toilet with shower in the same level as the pool area.

The property was back in the 1100s a defensive fortress and observation post, whose function was to protect and control the road from Lleida to Barcelona. You can still see some of the other fortresses from the holiday house, and the high castle walls with lookout holes provide a truly authentic atmosphere. It was of great strategic value to place the fortress on top of a hill, and nowadays this is still very useful, as it provides stunning, panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

On the first floor, there is a spacious and prettily designed kitchen. It is fully equipped, so you can easily prepare meals at home. Furthermore, there is a lift up to the first floor, which is convenient when you have shopped groceries or when you arrive with suitcases. In addition, you can also buy wine and cava from the wine fields in the area.

On the same floor, there is the living room, which consists of a sitting area with a large flat-screen TV, a huge dining table, several other seating areas and a fireplace.

The living room has a stairway up to the second floor where there is a games room with large pool table and play activities for younger children. From here, there is also access to a terrace with seating and sunbeds. Here there is a splendid view over the area.

The house has six bedrooms of high quality. Three of these are double rooms and the other three are triple rooms - they are spread over the three floors of the holiday house. They are all comfortably furnished and all have a flat-screen TV. The rooms are designed and constructed as smaller suites with en suite bathrooms.

The rooms have different styles, and if you are travelling as a major holiday group, it is pleasant to be able to retreat and relax alone in the beautiful rooms. In addition, several of the bedrooms have desks and there is Wi-Fi connection throughout the house.
