About Mark and Corrinne Hall

We, Mark, Corrinne, Delilah and Clara, are a family of 4 who moved to the area in 2013. This is a small working farm, we breed pedigree Hereford cattle, and keep some pet lambs, horses and the required dogs and cats. The farm and all that come with it keeps us all very busy. The barn conversion is a project that we have taken time over to get just right and we hope you enjoy it ! Our two girls (5 and 6)have really enjoyed the pool and have since become extremely confident in the water.

Mark and Corrinne Hall purchased this barn in 2013

Why Mark and Corrinne Hall chose Stoke-on-Trent

This area is genuinely truly unspoilt. Rarely a day goes by when someone remarks on what a beautiful setting it is. Next to a country park offering walking, birdwatching and nature watching. surrounded by small farms that have been farmed by several generations of the same families. We knew when we saw the property that this was where we wanted to raise our girls.

What makes this barn unique

The most unique benefit of this property is the pool. It is private for your use only. We used to look for holiday rentals that had sole use of a pool in the UK and struggled to find one. Regardless of the what the weather does, you can still enjoy it. If you were inclined you could simply part our car up for your duration of stay, there are plenty of footpaths and walks to explore that keep most of our campsite customers returning time and time again. Not to mention the closet pub, The Top Pub,named as its at the top of the hill behind us, which offer excellent value for money meals. Its actually our preferred pub to eat in.

Heart of the farm

  • 5 of 5

Well designed and to a high specification, Jacuzzi bath and steam room were great for relaxing after a day of walking, the the pool was fun and warm.

The living area has restricted headroom but it is so well laid out I had no issues and I am over 6ft tall.

Great place to visit for National Trust Houses and pottery as well as some great walking in the Peak District.

The owners are a lovely family and very helpful, they have two very friendly working dogs.

Clean, quiet property set in a farmyard setting

  • 3 of 5

Corrine was very welcoming and showed us round the property. We were a little surprised to find a steep metal staircase up to the entrance, as although it was advertised as "not wheelchair accessible" maybe it should have also stated anyone with a mobility issue would struggle.

The pool area was very good and the first day we used the pool it was very warm, the dehumidifier is under the bedroom and came on in the night so not good for a light sleeper.

We were disappointed not to find a welcome pack, especially no milk provided as a cuppa after a long journey would have been very welcome, we had hoped as the barn is expensive that we would have been provided with something. There were cleaning products, but no toiletries other than hand-wash, there was no hairdryer either.

I was a little surprised to find that the bedding was not ironed, the bedrooms were very nice but that let them down, again at the price paid I would have expected a better standard.

The kitchen was well fitted but there were no glasses other than 4 wine glasses or badly scratched plastic cups/glasses.

We wanted a quiet retreat and it was, there is no garden as the barn is in the middle of the farm, although there are 2 chairs and a table that can be used.

Top quality accommodation.

  • 5 of 5

Corrinne and Mark were lovely hosts, the accommodation was excellent, with all the facilities you could need. The pool and steam room were fantastic. The dogs were friendly and our children loved playing with the other children living there, luckily they were around the same age! We're already wondering when we can visit again! One very minor thing though is that there is no WiFi which made things a bit tricky as I had no mobile signal. Still definitely 5 star accommodation though. Loved it.
