About richard thompson

Recently retired my wife and I were Wedding Caterers and have now taken a back seat to enjoy our time between The garden of England in Kent and Andalusian life.

We have three grown up children A married son and two daughters who love to visit the villa as often as they can. We have renovated the villa and has a Spanish feel with modern facilities.

richard thompson purchased this villa in 2016

Why richard thompson chose Benalmádena

My wife and I met in Benalmadena when we were on holiday in 1981. Our love affair grew alongside the development of the bustling resort. We had many family holidays in the area over the years. We decided many years ago that we would retire to our beloved resort.

Our villa offers us and our guests the best of both worlds.

A quiet residential area with neighbouring golf courses, spectacular mountain views and a sea view from the roof terrace, but within easy reach of the 16 Blue flag beaches and plentiful bars of Benalmadena

What makes this villa unique

Accommodating an extended family was key for our villa.

The lounge area is large and airy, the kitchen a chefs dream with all mod cons, plenty of bathrooms so no queuing.

Three bedrooms that are ideal for 2 guests and a travel cot for a baby. There is also a studio apartment offering privacy for extra guests.

No less than six terraces offering sun or shade at various times of the day, plenty of seating, so you and your family do not have to be on top of each other.

A large inviting pool with shower . A garden full of exotic Mediterranean plants, a butterfly heaven. Choice of 12 fruits picked fresh from our trees including Orange, lemon, avocado and Almonds.

Great accommodation, great weather, great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great holiday in Villa Paraiso. Accommodation size ideal with plenty of places to relax. Good local bus service which we used regularly, either venturing down to the Marina or up to Mijas. Both Mercadana and Lidl were easy to get to with much to choose from, so enjoyed many an evening on the villa terrace with a steak and nice bottle of Rioja. Beaches were lovely, with very comfortable beds to hire. Resort very welcoming with lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. Fish restaurants at the front plentiful and would highly recommend ordering a plate of anchovies to enjoy while watching the world go by. Only negative comment would be that although advised we could lease with property company on day of leaving, flexibility of leaving villa and leaving luggage option could have been better. Overall the holiday and villa met all our expectations and more. Will definitely be back

Owner's Response: We are happy you enjoyed your time at Villa Paraiso. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Unfortunately in peak season we have back to back guests and our cleaning team need 4/5 hours to prepare the villa for arriving guests therefore it is not always possible to accommodate late check outs. We hope you were not too badly inconvenienced.

Beautiful Villa, Benalmadena

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the beautiful Villa Paraiso with our three sons. It is a very spacious villa with fantastic views of Mount Calamoro. It is situated in a very quiet area expect when our boys were in the pool. We hired a car as it was cheaper for us than to get two taxis for the five of us. We would definitely recommend this beautiful villa to anybody thinking of going to Benalmadena.

Really relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

The house is in a residential area but five minutes away from the beach or mountains. We stayed with our dog and found the area great for walks. The village or Pueblo is just up the road where the restaurants are fab. Lidls and Mercadona are just a short walk away so we got fresh baked croissants with cheese or sausage for breakfast. We will miss the peace and quiet . Lovely villa with everything you need TV was great, Wifi fast, 3 toilets one on each floor too, plenty of hot water and fluffy towels. Just what we needed. Will be back

Spacious villa, great views and pool, great location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Paraiso. We managed without a car using the bus occasionally but mostly relying on the excellent and plentiful taxis. We ate out most nights in Arroyo de la Miel. The villa is spacious with plenty of discrete areas to soak up the sun or find a bit of space to finish that book or gaze at great views.

The pool is fabulous and we didn't really need to go to the beach, we walked there once. My only slight caveat is that, like a lot of villas in the south it is built cleverly on multiple levels so there are a lot of stairs with the living area and kitchen at the top and the pool at the bottom. But once adjusted and the fridge on the lower terrace well stocked the old pool, sun, mojito and back in the pool routine kicks in quickly. But this is a five star review. Great spacious villa, pool, good location, value for money and responsive owners and good local management.

Our villa is within a short walk to FOUR major attractions of Benalmadena.

TIVOLI WORLD is the largest centre for family entertainment on the Costa del Sol. It is in the heart of Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmadena and is easily to reach by car, train, bus or taxi.

Family fun at Tivoli World. © Tivoli World

Family fun at Tivoli World.

The setting is a wonderful combination of tropical gardens, beautiful plazas, luminous fountains, exiting fair ground rides, theatres, restaurants and much more. There are over 300 rides and attractions. Some of the best Flamenco shows are held here and many important musical artists appear in concert every season. The fabulous outdoor theatre can seat up to 3,000 people and the atmosphere is often electric. For variety and as a contrast to the Spanish Flamenco theatre, there is also a fabulous Far West corner, where you enter the world of the cowboy can even find out your skills as a bucking bronco rider! Tivoliandia is a new section, which has recently been added to the Park, offering 11 rides for the youngest members of the family. So, from small children to grandparents, Tivoli World has something for everyone.

The TELEFERICO CABLE CARS Benalmadena is a 15-minute cable car ride that takes you from Benalmadena Costa to the summit of Mt. Calamorro offering spectacular views of the Costa del Sol. Even those that have lived on the Costa del Sol for years are taken aback by the amazing vistas this accessible journey has to offer.

PALOMA PARK Benalmadena

Paloma Park is the largest public park in Benalmadena on the Costa del Sol and is an excellent, free family day out. The large lake is stocked with wild and domesticated birds including ducks and swans. Look out for Turtles and rabbits also.

The birds love to be fed so take some bread with you.

The park is disabled friendly with wide walkways, well paved. The gardens are a pleasure, especially in Spring. The large fountain in the centre of the lake is on most of the time.

The park is located slightly uphill from the seafront. Parking is ample on most sides of the park and there's a sunny cafe near the main entrance. Whilst the park is relatively safe, take care with handbags when distracted by the birds.

SELWO MARINA AND DOLPHIN

Selwo Marina is Andalusia's only delfinarium. It is located in Arroyo de la Miel, near Benalmadena

he park is divided in four zones over 1.7 hectares: 'Antilla' with the delfinarium, 'La Hondonada' with its exotic birds from South America, 'Amazonia' to discover the fauna and vegetation of the tropical jungle, and 'La Isla de Hielo' which reproduces the natural habitat of penguins. There is also a play area for smaller children. If you would like to experience the dolphins close up, try SPLASH, their new attraction where you can get into the water with the dolphins to play games and learn tricks.
