Christmas house
The house is amazing and very big. Conservatory, open fires and space was perfect for our family of 8 staying there. Internet was a bit hit and miss and the dirt track leading to the house was horrendous after weeks of rain in a low sports car!! I got stuck in the mud and really thought I had damaged my car at one point. Hint: don't take a low car in the winter!! Also, kitchen roasting pans a bit "used" so I bought foil trays to use. The hosts had erected a beautiful Christmas tree and left treats, very kind! Garden was beautiful but didn't take advantage this visit. Will definitely like to return in the summer!

Beautiful house and country setting
Really nice country property for a large family/group. It’s between 2 other properties but I didn’t hear anything from either side all week. There’s plenty of space inside and out. The garden is lovely, one morning we saw a baby hare right outside the conservatory on the patio. There are a few steps inside between some rooms which might be worth considering if you have mobility problems. The local footpaths are well worth trying if you fancy a car free day or two (The owners have thoughtfully left OS maps in the house). We had mixed feelings about the New Inn in Church Knowle, but the East Creech Tea Room was fantastic.

Corfe Castle is nearly in your back garden!
There seem to be very few properties of this size on the market, with such a lovely garden, overlooking the Purbeck Hills, with cows and sheep in the meadow at the back. Its peaceful (except for the farm animals when it's a full moon!) -being off the beaten track. There is so much to do for both adults and children in this area and such wonderful beaches that we are considering taking the house again new year.

Perfect hideaway for large group
Excellent property for large group. We were celebrating a 70th birthday so had 3 generations staying. Large property with loads of small areas to relax and share time together. Well equipped kitchen but could have been cleaner - I think we left it cleaner than we found it. Lots of bathroom space but shower in main bathroom has a woodlouse problem and en-suite needs either a bath mat in the bottom or a handrail to prevent someone slipping and hurting themselves. For a property that does not allow pets we were shocked to find a dog bowl and a half eaten dog bone in the garden. Loved the swing seat and plenty of chairs for the dining room and in the garden. We had a lovely break and would highly recommend - our comments around cleanliness are simply to let the owner know as if I were paying someone to keep my home clean and nice I would want to know if they weren’t doing such a good job and letting the place down. The lamp shades in the lounge and the cooker knobbs are filthy and need a good clean too. Wendy the owner is extremely helpful and the home is absolutely lovely and I would recommend it and even at peak season prices I would say it is very reasonably priced and we had all the hot water etc that we needed. Please be aware though that there was no milk or coffee provided so we had to go without a milky drink on the day we arrived as the village stores had already closed by the time we realised there was no milk - coffee wasn’t a problem as we had some and tea was provided.

Wonderful country retreat
We spent a relaxing couple of days here - house is really well equipped. Wendy was very helpful and sent us all the information we needed, including recommendations for local pubs and walks, which we really appreciated.

Bucknowle has been our family holiday home since 1991, but we have spent holidays in Dorset with our parents too. I grew up in Cornwall and my husband in Kent where we now live. We enjoy using the house with family and friends and also just by ourselves.
We love the coastal and country walks, spending time at the beach and in our beach hut at Studland, playing golf at Purbeck and exploring the local towns and villages.
The house is comfortable all through the year and particularly cosy in the winter with the fires lit.

Why they chose this property

Our house is extremely spacious, comfortably furnished and equipped. It is sited in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which offers a wide range of activities. The beaches are varied and within easy reach, country walks are right on the doorstep, and the entrance to Poole Harbour marks the start of the South West Coastal Path.
The location is good for exploring Dorset and across the borders to Somerset and Devon.
The house is great to use all year round
