Wonderfully located flat

This flat is located close to two underground stops in a nice part of town, close to many tourist spots. There is also a convenience store located next door downstairs. The apartment itself was spacious for our family of five and very comfortable. We really enjoyed having the kitchen and laundry and two bathrooms. There were a few minor maintenance issues, but nothing major that detracted from our stay or that required immediate attention. It would be helpful for those guests coming from outside the UK to have a binder of recommended local restaurants and some basic instructions on how to use the appliances in the flat like the dishwasher, washer and dryer, and bathroom exhaust fans. These are all just a bit different from those that we use in the US. It just took extra time to sit down and figure them out. And I never expected the washer cycle to take 2 hours. Info like that would be useful in a binder to plan ahead for, as well as what is dishwasher salt used for and how do you add it? And the pull string on the bathroom exhaust fan was a new one for us. All wonderful features, just different from what we are used to. Thanks for a fabulous time! We really enjoyed your place.

Dirty, Dirty, Dirty!

We found the apartment extremely filthy -- 1/4" dust on all the floors along the baseboards and behind every door, dust on the bed frames, dirty carpets, mouse droppings in the kitchen, dishes dirty in the cupboards, mold in both bathrooms, bed linens were dirty(we washed the first day), dust in the fan covers, stove top dirty and the lack of maintenance was appalling from the loose tiles to the light fixtures not being secured in the ceiling. It is by far the worst experience we have had with a property through HomeAway. The only positive comment I would have is that the location was good for accessing public transportation and restaurants, etc. Simpy awful.

Great central location but in need of improvent

The apartment is in a great location to visit central London, but the apartment could benefit from a general overhaul. The tv was freeview and not satellite or digital as listed, but my main criticism is that the flat contained mouse poison boxes.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. The mouse poison boxes were placed in the apartment by the building management as a preventive measure to avoid an infestation occuring. This was recommended to us and not a sign of a problem (as explained to the guests) The boxes are clearly visible through out the communal areas too. The review fails to mention no mice were seen during their stay. The TV situation was rectified as soon as I was informed. The apartment offers clean, spacious, affordable accomadation right in the heart of London's Fitzrovia. The photos do reflect the apartment. I would also like to add to possilbe future renters, if there are any issues at all please contact us so we can put it right asap. Thank you

Great location. Oxford tube station nearby. Lots of restaurants and shopping close.

The flat is in a great location. Jo met us at the flat and gave us a tour. Our family of 5 was comfortable. The local sainsbury was great for breakfast food and snacks. Easy to access all of London from the tube station.

Needs serious repairs and maintenance.

This apartment has lots of potential and is in a very good location. However it is in serious need of repairs, general maintenance, paint and carpet cleaning. There is a major mold problem in the bedroom bathroom, broken and loose tiles, and dirty grout. Both bathrooms have water damage needing correcting and a very noisy fan in second bathroom. Entire place is in need of painting, and carpets are very stained and dirty looking, windows in need of cleaning. Many broken (inoperable) ceiling light fixtures and lamps throughout. There were few instructions left and no local travel tips provided. The gentleman who let us in was a little unfriendly as well.

Ok, but could be better

The only positive moment about the apartment is - central location!

But never in my life I've seen a dirtier and less taken care of apartment.

Walls, carpets, mats - everything should be changed asap...

Beds are not very comfortable, cheap blankets and pillows.

Will not recommend.

Neatly tucked away between the wealth of Marylebone, the edgy energy of Soho and the grandeur of Bloomsbury, Fitzrovia is peaceful and attractive, home to small media organisations, small pubs and small restaurants. Wide streets lined with tall buildings in Victorian brick mingle with cosy side alleys, with a variety of architectural styles from the eighteenth century to the present day, all of it dominated by the BT Tower, one of London’s tallest and most iconic buildings. Tottenham Court Road is the major shopping street, and the best place in London to look for home furnishings and electronic goods. The area around Oxford Street mixes good high street shops with pubs and bars catching the overflow from Soho.
