About the property

Two bedroom cottage in Holmbridge on the river Holme on outskirts of Holmfirth

Linen Cottage used to be owned by the local mill, the employees would have lived and worked there producing wool, the cottage is in Holmbridge on the outskirts of Holmfirth. It's a real hidden gem, so peaceful a fantastic place to unwind.Situated on the river Holme itself and with the countryside on your doorstep, the most noise you are likely to encounter are the birds in trees and the ducks playing. You really can do as much or as little you wish.

We have extensively and sympathetically renovated the property and restored most of the original features, which include the Yorkshire stone floor, stone fireplace, stone mullion windows and lovingly restored the beams back to their former glory. Not only have we restored original features but we fitted a modern bathroom comprising of walkin shower, Wc and basin, we also fitted a fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, extractor fan, microwave and washer/dryer in the pantry if needed.

The ground floor of the cottage is open plan with kitchen, dining and living area which has a Lcd tv and two large leather sofas to relax after a day's walking or cycling, a coffee that was restored by me and stores books and games, also we have a log burner with Free Basket of Firewood. There is a oak dining table for four people but can extended to accommodate two extra. We have Free Wifi available for access to the internet. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a master and a twin room, both have wardrobes and bedside tables. All the house has been decorated to a high standard, with central heating throughout and fitted smoke and carbon monoxide alarms for extra peace of mind. We would like to state the cottage is strictly No Smoking. We also provide a hairdryer, ironing facilities, bed linen and towels.

Around Linen cottage there are local amenities, and a few pubs which serve food, one of which brews its own beer and is really worth while taking a few hours to enjoy.

We are located in the beautiful Peak District and ideally situated, as Manchester is only 24 miles, Manchester airport is 31 miles, Leeds is 30 miles, Sheffield is 24 miles, and Huddersfield is only 8 miles. Holmfirth is about a 15 minute walk from Holmbridge or 5 minutes by car, close to the property is a bus service that goes to Huddersfield via Holmfirth . In Holmfirth there are restaurants, cafes, bakery, butchers, gift shops and clothes boutiques and a well stocked supermarket.

Holmfirth is famous for filming Last Of The Summer Wine and you can visit the famous Sid's Cafe or take the bus tour which is outside the cafe.It also hosted The Tour de France in 2014, which has made it popular for cyclist's who can follow the route and even try their luck at the famous Holm Moss hill. The area has many trails and walks for ramblers to take advantage of the breathtaking views and we are sure, that once you have visited the area, you will be coming back for more!

We have fallen in love with holmfirth and want to give you the opportunity to do the same, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us..

Cosy, comfortable, well equipped, clean, thoughtful owners

  • 4 of 5

Fay was very accommodating, providing a choice of bedding on request. The lounge with two large sofas and open fire were great for family time in the evenings, and the bedrooms were very comfortable. Bathroom is modern. The kitchenette is small but well equipped with high quality pans, cutlery and crockery. The house is end of terrace. there is no garden, just an area of shared pathway outside the door step that is possible to sit out as per photo, which is pleasant in the sunshine. Neighbours were friendly. Several steps lead to the river. Peaceful and convenient for drives in to stunning North Peak District plus Manchester, Sheffield within and hour. Some history of the area, the mills and photos of the house under restoration would be a great addition to the house.

A lovely property, we'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

Nicely appointed old mill workers cottage on the outskirts of Holmfirth, within easy walking of a couple of good pubs. An ideal base for exploring both the peak District and the Yorkshire Dales. Friendly and helpful owners, and a most welcome "welcome" tea waiting for us when we arrived.

Beautifully restored.

  • 3 of 5

Lovely cottage with comfy beds. Great position for many varied walks from the doorstep. Didn't use the car once. Short walk into Holmfirth & there's plenty of eateries and shops if you wish. Good communication from the owners.

Only negative for us, the downstairs of the cottage smelt of damp, which may be inherent with the age of the property. The owners are going to investigate.

A beautifully presented cottage in a lovely town

  • 5 of 5

Fay was brilliant, nothing too much trouble and great at communicating throughout the process.

We had a lovely time in this well appointed cottage, the beds were very comfortable and our children (3 & 18m) loved it. I'd also like Fay to decorate my house!!!

Thank you!
