Overview

About the property

Converted Victorian annexe to the main Georgian building.

Located in beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, Chase House is a Georgian property built around 1813. It was originally the centre of a large farming estate of approximately 300 acres.

We believe that the extension to the building is Victorian and was used at one time as a schoolroom for children of the estate workers. This part of the building has been converted to offer a comfortable one-bedroom self-contained apartment.

It is accessed by an outside staircase, and provides a large double bedroom with ample storage; a lounge / diner with a cosy sitting area and wood burning stove; a well equipped kitchen with beautiful views across the garden; and a newly fitted bathroom with bath and hand-held shower attachment.

The original farm is now a separate enterprise and is located adjacent to Chase House. It is a large dairy farm with over 300 head of mostly Fresian Holstein cattle.

Chase House is set in beautiful mature gardens and guests are welcome to enjoy this peaceful rural environment.

There is much to enjoy in this beautiful area.

The historic town of Chepstow, with its magnificent castle is only 4 miles away.

The Forest of Dean offers many opportunities for enjoying the outdoors, wildlife walks, bird- watching, cycling and many more.

The picturesque Wye Valley is close by, the bustling, market town of Monmouth, and the Brecon Beacons are all within easy reach by car.

For those people who enjoy walking there are many delightful walks from the front gate.

Offa's Dyke path is only ten minutes away, and also the Gloucestershire Way. The 'Devil's Pulpit' and the famous abbey at Tintern are within walking distance.

The Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons offer more amazing walks and stunning scenery.

Chase House is an ideal base to explore this beautiful area.

Owner's Response: Thank you James and Charlotte. We're so pleased that everything was good for you. It is certainly a quiet place to stay, but with lots of walks and places to visit in the surrounding area.

Splendid

  • 5 of 5

Lovely place, everything one could possibly think of one might need in a holiday flat, and very lovely people (and puppy). We thoroughly recommend the Old Schoolroom and plan to come again. Location is also good, you can start walks and runs directly from the place, and the next shops are just 4miles away.

Very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had 4 good days at the cottage. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The cottage has been modernised recently, having a really nice and comfortable lounge diner and a large bedroom with double bed (which was also comfortable). The kitchen and bathroom were both modern and small but very practical and perfectly adequate. The cottage is in a quiet area, not far from the Devil's Pulpit, well located for Chepstow and the other main sights on either side of the River Wye. All in all, we were very pleased with the cottage, which was also good value for money.

Excellent accommodation in a lovely rural environment.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Chase House for seven nights. We couldn't have been more comfortable or the hosts more obliging. Everything we needed to be self sufficient was there or provided willingly at no extra costs eg washing!

All facilities were to a high standard.
