About the property

Beautiful, secluded Barn/Cottage next to Nature reserve, South Downs, Chichester

Close to Goodwood, nestled at the foot of the National Park overlooking Kingley Vale, a stunning Nature Reserve you will feel instantly relaxed and peaceful in this beautiful, newly converted Shepherd's Barn with all the fresh air you can breathe. This is a fully Self Contained house with a parking space and a beautiful, private garden with views over the South Downs and a beautiful woodland. The Shepherd's Barn is a beautifully formed space to lay your weary head.

Enter a sweeping drive of a 17th Century brick and flint farmhouse and peaking out from the side you will see the Shepherd's Barn. Enter through the bi-folding doors to make the most of the stunning view to up to the mighty Kingley Vale. You will be welcomed with a seriously cool hamper with stunning local produce to help you relax into the beautiful surroundings. If there's a nip in the air, you can light the cosy woodburner and settle into the night. If there's a remarkable sunset, sit outside on the cleverly created wooden deck and admire the view with some nice heat and light. There's a fully equipped kitchen or order a delicious takeaway, or it's a mile or so to the fantastic White Horse at Chilgrove or Royal Oak at East Lavant (a Tatler favourite) for a delicious lunch or supper. There's a comfy sofa and TV. There's a luxurious bathroom with a huge rainfall shower with underfloor heating and soft fluffy towels. Up the steep staircase you'll find a King Sized bed up in the eaves (restricted height similar to a tent) and can even lie looking out of the 2 skylights at the Moon and the Stars. This part of West Sussex has an incredible night sky due to the low light pollution in the area.

We have tried to create the perfect romantic, peaceful, rural escape in the heart of the South Downs, close to the action of Goodwood. Please be aware the King Size Bed is in the Eaves of the property and you won't be able to stand up! It is about the same height as a tent as a guide.

There are so many amazing places to visit on the doorstep including: Goodwood Events 2 miles

Farbridge Wedding Venue 1 mile

West Dean Gardens 2 miles

Weald & Downland Museum 2 miles

Chichester 4 miles

Bosham 4 miles

Cowdray 8 miles

West Wittering 8 miles

We are quite remote, despite being 4 miles from Chichester. You will need a car or bike to get about or I can recommend a fantastic, local and friendly Taxi Service.

Closest Train Station is either Chichester (90 mins from London Victoria + 10 mins drive) or Petersfield (70 minutes from London Waterloo + 15 min drive).

I have no clue

  • 4 of 5

So today I got an email, "How was your stay in Chichester?". I have no idea where "Romantic Butthole" is, nor South Downs.

I can only assume that once again some moron doesn't know their own email address and chose to put mine into their reservation.

This sort of stupidity happens all the time to me. You'd be amazed at the personal information that comes my way.

Oh well, I'm sure the place is really nice. The picture looks cozy! I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars for the picture!
