Leechwell House is a 200 year old, typical Totnes town house, which has recently been renovated to a high standard. It is located within a couple of minutes walk from the high street.

The house sleeps 5 and comprises:

• Two spacious double bedrooms (double beds)

• One single bedroom

• Ground floor cosy living room with log burner and TV/DVD player

• 1st floor kitchen with table for dining. Well equipped with cooker, hob, microwave and fridge with small freezer compartment

We are both now retired after working in the public sector and bringing up a wonderful family.

Why Gail chose Totnes

We were drawn to the house as it had been empty for two years and we purchased it and gave it the love and attention it needed. We have worked hard on it and made it into a homely place trying to retain some of its unique features.

What makes this house unique

As we love Totnes and the surrounding area we thought the house was in the perfect location….in the heart of the quirky town.

Notes:
The entrance passageway is slabbed and oak panelled. This is a lovingly renovated, Grade 2, listed town house with everything you need on the doorstep. We only have a very small back yard with an outhouse that is a utility room with laundry area and logs.It is just big enough to store 2 bikes...with care. Opposite is Rotherfold Square where you can sit on a locally made wooden seat and watch life go by. We have cafes, restaurants, pubs, quirky shops and amazing markets just around the corner....and yet our house is very quiet and peaceful in its little cul de sac.

Pristine property with everything you need to make you feel at home!

Great property in the heart of Totnes made for a great base from which we could explore south Devon. Really nicely decorated and furnished with lots of thoughtful extras (like washing up liquid, tea towels and salt-we always forget to take). Only gripe I guess is the parking, bought a weekly parking permit but inadvertently parked on the wrong car park for two days and got two tickets as a result :'-( Otherwise

We had a great family week away and would highly recommend it!!! :-D

Lovely house in a lovely town in a great location. Centrally located easy access to shops.

Spent a week in Totnes which is well located for trips to the beach and seaside towns e.g. Brigham and Dartmouth. Beautiful coastal scenery on the road from Slapton to Dartmouth. Beesands was a lovely quiet spot for a walk and my kids enjoyed kite flying there. I recommend Woods Bistro for lunch which is close to the lovely house we stayed in.

The house is over 3 floors and is well equipped with lots of information supplied. The rooms are of a good size and well decorated. A short distance from the lovely high street which had loads of independent shops and a must for craft and jewellery enthusiasts.

Totnes sits on the edge of the beautiful River Dart between Dartmoor and Dartmouth. It is splendid walking, cycling and touring countryside and is within 30 minutes drive to some great beaches. e.g. Slapton and Blackpool Sands. There are many enchanting villages and historic sites to be visited in the locality and there is the Sharpham Vineyard famous for its wine and cheese. With a mainline railway station and excellent bus services, a car is not essential. The river provides many activities including ferry/cruise trips, sailing and canoeing courses and motor boat hire at nearby Dittisham. Or why not try the popular one-day Round Robin tour on a historic coal-fired paddle steamer, steam train and heritage bus in the surrounding area. Totnes is also a perfect base for trips further afield such as the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan. There are festivals, a variety of cultural activities, courses and markets all year round ( Christmas markets are exceptional!)

Totnes is a unique country town with a growing reputation worldwide as a Transition town - an inspirational model for community living. It even has its own currency! It has a vibrant atmosphere and is full of independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. There are a number of market days with a variety of stalls including food, clothes, jewellery and an antique/flea market every Friday and Saturday, an Elizabethan market in the summer months and every third Sunday a famous food market. It is an arts hub with links nationally and internationally within the world of art, music, theatre, comedy and dance. There are many art galleries and craft shops to explore both in Totnes, nearby Dartmouth, Dartington and Dartington Hall.

Its history dates back to Saxon times and is overlooked by an imposing Norman Castle.There is so much to see - whether it is exploring the narrow, winding streets or visiting the historic Guildhall, the fashion and textile museum, Garden Trail or Agatha Christie's house at nearby Greenaway.
