Well equipped and perfectly located, Driftwood Cottage was perfect for our walking holiday

  • 5 of 5

Driftwood Cottage is situated off the road through the village and therefore has no passing traffic which was perfect as we had our springer spaniel with us.

The cottage was clean and well equipped with everything you need for a lovely holiday. The milk and bottle of wine was very welcome after our long journey up.

We found it hard to find anything to eat on our first evening as one pub in the village had shut, one stopped serving food at 7.45pm!! And the fish and chip shop shut at 8pm but the Runcible Spoon just down the road did us a great pizza although it was an agonising wait for it, thankfully we sat outside and had a couple of glasses of wine as it was warm enough. Once we had done some exploring we found the Runswick Bay hotel (exactly 1 mike door to door and easily walkable) was good for food and very friendly, the fish and chip shop when open is excellent but our favourite was The Ellerby Hotel which had a great selection and was always beautifully presented. In the 3 evenings we stayed in for food the cottage provides pretty much everything you need to rustle up a simple meal.

Even though we stayed during the Early May heatwave we used the wood burner every evening which made the cottage really cosy and the baskets full of kindling and logs that were there on arrival was much appreciated.

Another nice touch was the dog bowl and towel along with the doggy treats for our springer spaniel who loved all the long walks we did.

Zoe messaged us early on during our stay to make sure everything was ok which we always appreciate.

Would we recommend Driftwood Cottage - yes absolutely.

The only slight downside is the parking is quite tight but then we do have a big car and once we’d gone in and out a few times we had it sussed.

Driftwood Cottage is a lovely home from home in a quiet village.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed walking to Runswick Bay and Staithes. Had a great day out in Whitby, taking a short boat ride out of the harbour to look back at the Abbey. We loved North Yourshire and I am certain we will return.

Lovely clean cosy cottage.Nice village location.

  • 4 of 5

We found the cottage small for two adults and two collie dogs, space was definitely a issue. The back garden is small and not attached to the cottage so we had to have the door closed all the time. This did not spoil our holiday but we won't return to Driftwood cottage.

Holiday in March 2018

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the cottage and were warmly welcomed with a lovely bottle of wine, biscuits tea and milk in the fridge and even biscuits for our 2 dogs! The cottage was very clean with everything you need being provided. It was very quiet and peaceful and handy for travelling to various beaches. Would recommend for a relaxing peaceful break.

Perfect little haven

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is lovely; quietly situated yet convenient for the beach at Runswick Bay and Port Mulgrave, as well as country walks. Zoe and Andy have thought of everything to make your stay perfect- from fresh milk in the fridge to a bottle of Merlot and choccie biscuits/tea/sugar.

The décor is comfortable and homely and we settled in straight away.

I would definitely recommend Driftwood Cottage

A great wee house and great service

  • 5 of 5

It was a good set up in the house. We wanted for nothing in the kitchen too.

We were very impressed that we did not have to remind Zoe of some small special requests that we had on booking.

Excellent WiFi was nice too.

Thanks Zoe
