About Richard

Hi we are Sharon and Richard. We bought this property over a year ago, and we would like to offer families an affordable break within a reasonable commuting distance to a number of coastlines and beaches

Copper Beech is a relatively large property that is suitable for two small families to share without feeling cramped. This comes at a reasonable affordable price. We have fully re-decorated the wing of the house and hope to complete the rest of the house by 2017, although it is still pleasant and comfortable as it is at present.

We are confident that this house is in a great location as there is so much to do within an easy commute to numerous Devon, Dorset and Somerset attractions.

We know you will have a great holiday here.

Welcome.

Why Richard chose East Devon

Great prices.

Comfortable quiet and safe area.

Park location

Welcome goodies on arrival.

What makes this bungalow unique

This property is great value for money. It's a lovely home in a quiet street backing on to a quiet park. You can have a lovely peaceful holiday here, close enough to the beach to commute each day, whilst being an inexpensive to rent.

It is a spacious house with plenty of space in each bedroom. There is ample space to not feel on top of each other here as there is a second reception/dining room. Because there are 2 bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs, it is well suited to two families sharing, since you can shut off two bedrooms, a bathroom and the second dining reception room if needed. The garden is pretty and quiet. There is space to dine outside.

We are confident that you will feel at home here and have a comfortable relaxing break.

Copper Beach was everything we hoped for, and more.

  • 5 of 5

Copper Beach was everything we hoped for, and more, and situated conveniently for travelling the West Country and Jurassic coast.

We were immediately comfortable with the house, it met all of our individual needs, plenty of space inside and out, the whole family just loved the piano, and were so glad that at least it was in tune!

Chard met all our needs, a good variety of stores and indies, plenty of places to eat and drink- one of the best fish and chip shops we have used in a long time.

We were pleasantly surprised to have so much control over the heating of the house, while we didn't need to alter the generous settings, we could have, and that is rarely the case.

A small microwave would have been handy, other wise our stay was without fault Thankyou.

A comfortable family holiday home but in need to some improvements.

  • 3 of 5

We had a great holiday in Chardstock in August 2017. There were many positives to the house, but also a few negatives that we feel need addressing.

Positives: Very nice people to deal with, we had a problem with the shower which they dealt with extremely quickly and efficiently. The complimentary wine and biscuits were very much appreciated. Downstairs there is a huge big tv with Apple TV which was appreciated by the teenagers very much. The sofas are extremely comfortable, the downstairs bathroom is very nice, the garden is pretty. There are lots of games which we made use of including a great chess set. The house is in a quiet location with very nice friendly neighbours and the house has a homely feel.

Negatives: There is no microwave despite there being one mentioned in the listing and shown in the photos. There are no bedside lights in the upstairs twin room although they are shown in photos on the listing. There is also a rather bad smell in the twin room which we suspected could be urine. The listing said there was outdoor seating for 8 but actually there was only seating for four so we had to drag chairs outside. The curtains were coming off hooks in three of the rooms which we had to rehook. There are handles missing of drawers in one of the bedrooms and also the downstairs bathroom. In the kitchen there was no real bin, just a waste paper bin with a plastic bag in it which filled up extremely quickly as there were six of us. Two or three of the pots and pans that we used were quite dirty and had to be washed before use. The most important thing that we felt must be improved was the bedding. The pillows were old and mis-shapen, the sheets were very old and pilled and uncomfortable. Bedding was mismatched and no longer really fit for purpose.

We did enjoy our stay, but the attention to detail at this property needs to be improved. We stay in holiday homes every year both in the UK and abroad, and there are certain standards that should be met. Bedding is one of the most important things to get right in a holiday home, as is clean pots and pans. No-one wants to feel like they are sleeping on worn, thin, raggy sheets, especially when paying almost £1,000 for a week.

There are many positives to this house and I have tried to leave a fair review by pointing out both the positives and the negatives. A quick trip to Ikea could fix 90% of the problems in this home.

Ideal base to explore Somerset, Devon and Dorset

  • 5 of 5

An ideal base in Somerset on the borders of both Devon and Dorset. Only a 20-30 minute drive and you are at the Jurassic Coastline which absolutely blows you away with how spectacular it is. Travel inland and there is still plenty to do butt we were lucky with the weather so made the most of the coast.

The house itself was deceptively spacious and cleaned to a high standard. The room out the back was used most evenings, not only for dinner but for family board games. There was no room that was tiny or cramped. 2 bathrooms both with showers is always a plus.

There was good communication with Richard the owner from the point of booking throughout our stay. If we'd had any issues we we didn't, we knew he was on hand should we need him.

a welcome bottle of wine and a packet of biscuits also a nice personal touch.

A comfortable property, well placed for the Dorset coast.

  • 4 of 5

The property provided good accommodation for a group of 7 persons,in a quiet cul-de-sac.

Furniture and fittings were good for a party of this size. One shortfall was not having a microwave oven, which we would consider almost essential for a holiday home. Also, the bed in the ground floor bedroom( by the bathroom) creaked with any movement and the undersheet worked loose and was worn. We also had to request extra towels ,which were provided promptly.
