Amazing sense of place and tranquil setting .
Geoffrey and Penny were wonderful and interesting hosts. Their accommodation was spacious, well decorated and well equipped, it was so refreshing to be able to cook in the well equipped kitchen when on holiday, I felt I was in my own home. The drive up to the house was spectacular with 360 degree views of rolling countryside and Pyrenees mountains. Both Geoff and Penny took time to sit and talk about what the area had to offer, recommended places to visit and best restaurants. Their idea of being eco friendly showed in their beautiful garden that welcomed so many butterflies and other bugs.
They had a small plunge pool which we enjoyed and every evening it was relaxing to go and sit on a well placed bench and watch the sunsets.
Although our host lived in the accommodation above they did not interfere in our stay, in fact we enjoyed listening to the peaceful music Penny placed on her grand piano. On our last evening they invited us for drinks and we learned about their wonderful life and adventures in Swaziland. We could have sat and listened to Geoff all evening.
They do themed holidays which would be very interesting, Penny is a good cook and a group retreat would certainly benefit from some fine home cooked meals and music.
This has been the best holiday we have enjoyed and would definitely love to return. Although Geoff didnāt mention he had written a book about their life and experience I discovered it and have ordered āLife is a fatal illnessā by Geoffrey Douglas. The preview is amazing and I look forward to reading the whole book. What a great experience to meet such lovely, humble, talented and experienced people.
We hope to keep in contact with them and would welcome them to visit us when they come over to the UK.
