Why Patricia Bernard chose Grange-over-Sands

I love Grange Fell for its bright airy feel - its spacious and has a warm friendly atmosphere. Decorated in antique country style the house has many features and is lovely at any time of year - warm and cosy in the winter and bright and sunny in the summer.

What makes this house unique

Built as a guest house in the 19th century, Grange Fell has a long history of welcoming guests. Positioned at the top of Grange it has lovely fell walks from the door and looks down accross the bay. A short drive away from Newby Bridge the gateway to the Lake District there are many beautiful places to visit nearby and excellent road and rail links.

Fantastic and top notch service

  • 5 of 5

The service throughout the booking period was fantastic with responses mostly within the same day that I sent messages. When we arrived the house was absolutely lovely and had everything provided we needed for a lovely stay including tea/coffee, condiments etc. We all felt like it was a home from home and i couldn't recommend both the house and Pat highly enough.

Beautiful place, terrific owner

  • 5 of 5

13 of us stayed over Christmas week. The house was perfect for a large group. Amazingly quiet with so many people, nice gathering spaces, well-equipped kitchen and large dining area. Warm fireplace for chilly evenings. Pat was so helpful, generous, and easy to coordinate with. She even decorated the house for Christmas! The town of Grange-over-sands is so charming. We would love to stay again.

fantastic house for a big group

  • 4 of 5

We were met by Patricia when we arrived in the snow. She was very friendly and helpful. We were a group of 11, 6 adults and 5 teenagers!. This house was perfect for us, plenty of room, very warm and cosy and plenty of space. You can walk from your door and walk into Grange.

Great property for a large group gathering

  • 4 of 5

This was a great place to stay for our family gathering from the USA , U.K. And Italy. Great sitting areas, dining and bathrooms

The only reason not to give a 5 star was poor internet service. At times it was non existent and folks had to go into grange to get stuff done that made it really inconvenient

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed staying at Grange Fell. Sorry that you had problems with the internet service. Grange Fell has unlimited superfast broadband supplied by BT. I did not notice any problems with the service before you arrived but would have suggested that you switch the modem off at the socket for a minute then switch back on to regain full service - this usually does the trick. It's a pity you did not report this at the time as I could have popped over and sorted it out with you (and/or BT) It is an expensive contract and includes full service and repair so there is really no need to be without full service. Thank you for alerting me to this. Pat

A perfect property for a family holiday and well located for The Lakes and the coast.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed as a party of six adults and four children. The house had plenty of room for us all and really felt like a home from home. Grange Over Sands itself is a charming town with enough to do for an afternoon of pottering and there is a beautifully kept promenade. We chose the house for its proximity to The Lakes and Scafell Pike which we climbed on our second day. The house was so comfortable and homely that we could have happily stayed longer. Thank you.

GRANGE-OVER-SANDS Cartmel 2 miles; Lake Windermere 8 miles; Kendal 10 miles. The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England with substantially less rain on the peninsular than further in to the Lake District. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Other attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world famous topiary gardens, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house. Set amidst the southern lakes, the attractive town of Grange-over-Sands makes a superb base from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area.Region Information
