The propertyThis charming end-terrace Victorian house is situated in the elegant town of Grange-over-Sands, on the edge of Grange Fell, within a short drive of the Lake District National Park. With distant views of Morecambe Bay and beautiful fell walks from the door, this spacious Grange-over-Sands cottage is perfect for large families, friends or walkers who wish to spend time exploring the area. Set over three floors, this light and airy cottage in Grange-over-Sands has been traditionally furnished with antique features. This house with unlimited WiFi has six spacious bedrooms, with two offering en-suite facilities, and there are also two newly refurbished family bathrooms. A fully fitted kitchen with range oven and dining area at this Lake District cottage has the benefit of a woodburning stove to keep the chefs in your party warm whilst they cook something tasty for dinner. Outside this Grange-over-Sands cottage is a private south-facing lawned garden, from where you can dine alfresco and catch the last of the evening's sun. About Patricia Bernard

Pat used to run Grange Fell as a B&B for 8 years before deciding to let the house as a Big House Holiday Let. A keen walker, Pat supplies a good range of walking guides and maps to ensure you make the most of your stay at Grange Fell. Only 10 mins away, Pat is on hand to help with any problems and to meet and greet on arrival if desired.

Patricia Bernard purchased this house in 2005

Why Patricia Bernard chose Grange-over-Sands

I love Grange Fell for its bright airy feel - its spacious and has a warm friendly atmosphere. Decorated in antique country style the house has many features and is lovely at any time of year - warm and cosy in the winter and bright and sunny in the summer.

What makes this house unique

Built as a guest house in the 19th century, Grange Fell has a long history of welcoming guests. Positioned at the top of Grange it has lovely fell walks from the door and looks down accross the bay. A short drive away from Newby Bridge the gateway to the Lake District there are many beautiful places to visit nearby and excellent road and rail links.

GRANGE-OVER-SANDS Cartmel 2 miles; Lake Windermere 8 miles; Kendal 10 miles. The charming Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands is set between the Lake District fells and Morecambe Bay and offers one of the mildest climates in the north of England with substantially less rain on the peninsular than further in to the Lake District. Formerly a small fishing village, the introduction of the Furness Railway transformed Grange-over-Sands into a fashionable Edwardian resort. Today, the town has much to offer the visitor including a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band concerts and excellent bird watching. Just a short drive away are Lake Windermere (8 miles), the villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, which still retain the charm and character that has endeared them to so many, and the home of sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel, with its famous racecourse and the L’Enclume restaurant, which has been voted the 4th best restaurant in the UK. Other attractions in the area include Levens Hall, with its Elizabethan Hall and world famous topiary gardens, Sizergh Castle, a National Trust medieval house and gardens, and Conishead Priory, a Gothic revival country house. Set amidst the southern lakes, the attractive town of Grange-over-Sands makes a superb base from which to enjoy the whole of this magical area.Region Information

Fantastic and top notch service

  • 5 of 5

The service throughout the booking period was fantastic with responses mostly within the same day that I sent messages. When we arrived the house was absolutely lovely and had everything provided we needed for a lovely stay including tea/coffee, condiments etc. We all felt like it was a home from home and i couldn't recommend both the house and Pat highly enough.

Great property for a large group gathering

  • 4 of 5

This was a great place to stay for our family gathering from the USA , U.K. And Italy. Great sitting areas, dining and bathrooms

The only reason not to give a 5 star was poor internet service. At times it was non existent and folks had to go into grange to get stuff done that made it really inconvenient

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed staying at Grange Fell. Sorry that you had problems with the internet service. Grange Fell has unlimited superfast broadband supplied by BT. I did not notice any problems with the service before you arrived but would have suggested that you switch the modem off at the socket for a minute then switch back on to regain full service - this usually does the trick. It's a pity you did not report this at the time as I could have popped over and sorted it out with you (and/or BT) It is an expensive contract and includes full service and repair so there is really no need to be without full service. Thank you for alerting me to this. Pat

A perfect property for a family holiday and well located for The Lakes and the coast.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed as a party of six adults and four children. The house had plenty of room for us all and really felt like a home from home. Grange Over Sands itself is a charming town with enough to do for an afternoon of pottering and there is a beautifully kept promenade. We chose the house for its proximity to The Lakes and Scafell Pike which we climbed on our second day. The house was so comfortable and homely that we could have happily stayed longer. Thank you.

Lovely homely house

  • 4 of 5

This house had everything we needed for 3 families. Lovely view of the bay. Close enough to main street for shopping. Kept us fit climbing the hill home.

Easter break

  • 4 of 5

Spacious property, well equipped kitchen though dishwasher not fully efficient. Recommended for a family group.

Owner's Response: It is one of those dishwashers that require careful loading to avoid blocking the spinning washer above the dishes - keep that clear and it works fine. Thank you for your recommendation.
