Why Dinah Hancock chose Bradford-on-Avon

The Old Chapel combines period charm with modern convenience in a really lovely location. It is located in a car free road ensuring total peace and quiet. The chapel is Grade II listed and built of the local stone with attractive arched 'ecclesiastical style' windows and exposed beams in the second bedroom. It benefits from facing south and enjoys sunshine throughout the day.

Cosy stay in the Old Chapel

  • 5 of 5

The Old Chapel provided a very warm, clean and comfortable stay for our visit to the area. Our boys loved exploring the character cottage, and enjoyed sleeping upstairs in the eaves. All the beds were comfortable and the whole feel was very homely. It was very well equipped with plenty of nice little touches, such as a vase of fresh daffodils, toiletry bottles, tissue boxes and a nightlight which was useful for the boys coming down their stairs to the bathroom. The kitchen had everything you could need; our boys enjoyed helping us to use the coffee machine! We enjoyed the contents of the hamper, and there was milk and lurpak butter in the fridge which was useful too. There were instructions available for all the appliances, the heating, and other useful information. The good side to having cold, damp weather was the fact that we could put on the fire and enjoy being cosy.

Parking where instructed wasn’t a problem, though we didn’t have to use our car during our stay. It was a quiet road. There is a small co-op very nearby, and a steep walk into Bradford-on-Avon centre didn’t take long. It took us about 20 mins to walk a little further on to the train station, so it was easy to get to Bath for the day. We would definitely like to return to the Old Chapel someday.

Fabulous Holiday Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have had a wonderful stay here. Everything you could possibly need is supplied & a wonderful food hamper was a very welcome surprise on arrival. We absolutely loved staying here & would definitely consider staying again. Perfect location for a trip to Bath; one of our favourite local farm shop/cafe Hartley’s in Winsley; near to Longleat & another fab farm shop/cafe & award winning fish & chips at White Row. Superb! Thank you.

Lovely, cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

The property is a perfect place for a couple or family of 4. The whole place is so comfy and warm - just lovely to come back to after being out in the cold and rain! All the little things have been thought of from all the condiments, coffee, teas to the DVDs for adults and kids. For children - consider bringing a few toys/books for them, if you need to keep them entertained. The master bedroom mattress is soft, which suited me but may not be for everyone. The property is perfectly located just minutes drive from Bradford town where the train will also take you straight to Bath.

Dinah was quick to respond to our queries and the welcome basket was thoughtfully put together, including the variety pack of cereals as she knew we had children.

All in all, we loved our stay the cottage and town and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to others.

Beautiful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic cottage in great location, very well decorated throughout and extremely well equipped. Easy train journey into Bath for the day. Can recommend 'Ravello' restaurant in BOA, you will need to book though as very popular, also tried 'The Castle' and 'Dandy Lion' both very good.

Communication with Dinah is excellent.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay. It is an absolutely beautiful property, decorated to a very high standard, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay here again.

The market town of Bradford-on-Avon is steeped in history dating back to Roman times. It owes much of its prosperity and beautiful architecture to the wool trade. Today visitors enjoy exploring the historic buildings, interesting shops, numerous restaurants, cafes and pubs which are scattered around the narrow streets. The Kennet and Avon canal which played an essential role in the wool trade now offers visitors the chance to walk, cycle, canoe or take a boat trip through the beautiful countryside.
