Methamis is a small hill top village on the edge of the Gorge de la Nesque in the foothills of Mont Ventoux. It is around 40 minute drive from Avignon and 90 minutes from Marseille. The village has a small shop and a bar, the terrace of which looks towards the Gorge and the hills leading up to Ventoux.

The house is in the upper part of this peaceful village and looks out across the Rhone valley and the Luberon hills. It has been owned by the family for over ten years.

The village is perfectly located for trips to Bedoin, Sault, Carpentras Gordes, Venasque and MontVentoux itself. All of these villages have vibrant weekly markets and many bars, cafes and restaurants.

The house comprises three double bedrooms, and one single. Two of the double bedrooms and the single room have ensuite showers/ bathrooms, the third double bedroom has an ensuite toilet. This bedroom is on the ground floor, and means that it is suitable for less mobile clients. (It is for instance preferred by the elderly parents of the house owners). There is a further toilet on the first floor. The arrangement of these rooms allows great flexibility to the occupation of the house as a secondary stair also links two of the bedrooms and so gives a sense of independence if there are two family groups staying.

There is a fully equipped kitchen with a large breakfast table, a dining room with a table that seats 8 people and two large living rooms. There is a television and DVD player in one of the two living rooms and further small room with television and DVD at the top of the house to help resolve any viewing disputes.

To the rear of the house there is a large South West facing terrace with dining table and parasol. This terrace overlooks a private swimming pool, with wooden deck part shaded by a mature Olive tree. The triangular pool is refreshed by a cascade. Sun loungers are provided.

A number of different car parking bays are located very close to the house, and cars can be parked temporarily directly in front of the house for loading and unloading.

The small shop is reasonably well stocked and also sells bread although bread and croissants need to be ordered for the duration of your stay. The bar is open in the mornings through to lunch time, and in the evening until after 11.00 pm. A mobile pizza van visits the bar twice a week, which serves good pizzas at a reasonable price. It is however busy ad so early ordering is recommended. There is a petanque court opposite the bar.

In the basement there is a washing machine and a tumble drier. In the upper salon there are a number of books on the bookshelves which guests are welcome to read, but should be left in the house for others to enjoy please as they are the property of the owners.

Martin has been visiting the region since the 1980's, He has always been a keen cyclist and was drawn to the area because of the Mountain. We have good friends in an adjoining Village, are integrated into the village and it is our second home

Methamis is a hill top village on the edge of the gorge de la Nesque, it is in the centre of a region famous for wonderful cycling and walking opportunities. Mot Ventoux can be seen from the village but there are a host of less challenging routes accessible from the village. there are weekly markets in Sault, Carpentras, Bedoin and Isle sur la Sorgue and in more local villages. On Sundays there is an enormous antiques market in Carpentras. There are kyaking trips along the river in Isle sur la Sorgue. Marseille and Nimes are not far away for a wide range of restaurants serving local specialities. Closer to home the Ferme du Pezet and Chalet Reynard are welcoming and memorable.
