Set in a tranquil garden in the centre of the village with a full range of local services, our house is ideal for walking climbing or boating on Lake Coniston.

Converted stone barn with lovely views of the mountains. Sleeps 4 to 6.

Master bedroom with king-sized bed. Bedroom with 2 singles. Sitting room annex with double sofa-bed.

Upstairs family bathroom, with bath and shower, and downstairs shower & WC.

Spacious dining room, breakfast room and well equipped kitchen.

The Wym is perfectly located in the heart of Coniston. A well equipped, tranquil retreat, ideally placed for walking, watersport and exploring the beautiful Lake District. With it’s peaceful ambiance, open fire, efficient shower and most comfortable bed, it’s the perfect base to retire to at the end of a long walking day - and if you don’t feel like cooking there’s a pub and super bistro right on the doorstep. What’s not to like?

Perfect for a family walking holiday

We stayed at the Wym in January 2018.

The property is great - very spacious, quirky, full of character and perfect for my family (2 adults , 3 children’s aged 11, 10 & 8.

Family bathroom was very modern and kitchen had everything we could need . Rooms were all warm and cosy on some extremely cold nights.

Location was brilliant - about 30 seconds to the Bull and 2 minutes walk to several other pubs .

There were so many brilliant family walks on our doorstep we were spoilt for choice.

We will definitely be returning.

Perfect base for walking

Ideal location in the centre of Coniston, just a few steps away from pubs and shops. Lots of walks from the doorstep for all abilities. The house was warm and comfortable, with everything we needed.

Quirky, warm, central location, with parking.

Fab week in a lovely quirky cottage in the centre of Coniston. If you’re wanting big leather settees, neutral decor and all mod cons this is not for you. But if you want a cottage with character, a lovely open fire, comfy beds, modern bathroom with lashings of hot water, a kitchen that lacks for nothing, then this is for you.

Quirky house but comfortable with a nice atmosphere

The house is handily placed in the village with lots of walks from the doorstep.The Black Bull is my favourite pub in Coniston and is about a 30 second walk away. From the house we have walked around the lake, which is farther than you think because you have to take to the road and begin the return leg at Water Yeat. Hawkshead via Tarn Hows with a pub lunch was also nice. A trip up The Old Man on the clearest day gave us fantastic views and a walk to Seathwaite along the Walna Scar road was interesting as the cloud was low that day but cleared up on the return leg. Altogether we walked/climbed about 65 miles during our week long stay and rewarded ourselves amply in The Black Bull. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Comfortable base for central Lakes

What makes a 'good' holiday cottage will vary with everybody. What makes a 'good' cottage into an 'outstanding' cottage is probably something which every holiday-cottage owner would love to know! If you are looking for modern decor and cutting edge furniture and design then you will find this cottage lacking. However, the cottage has a wonderful charm and family warmth which oozes out of ever corner of this extensive property, and as the days passed comfortably by you begin to grow into its character; like a warm jumper on a cold winter's night!

Positive aspects of this property which I would recommend to any future visitor: 1 Prompt communication with the owner. 2 Well resourced with plates, pots, pans, sharp knives etc. 3 A wonderful bathroom, large bath and plenty of hot water- essential after any form of day in The Lakes. 4 Fast broadband available. 5 Loads of downstair's space. 6 Central location within Coniston and great access to large sections of The National Park.
