Thistle cottage is situated in the tranquil village of Gatas in the sarzedas area of Castelo Branco. We are situated in a valley of fresh pine trees ebbing rivers. Nearby are the river beaches of sesmo, cerejeira, and alvito. A little further through the valley (15-20min drive) is froia river beach . A 20 minute drive to the city of Castelo Branco with cinema, tenpin bowling, shopping malls, theatre, and restaurants in abundance. We offer mountain bike hire as this is the home of the btt cycle track which flows through the small villages for miles. As we have the river in the village we can also offer kayaks for rent... The perfect way to cool down and have fun in the hot summer months. Thistle cottage is a refurbished traditional Portuguese farmhouse ran by a Scottish family.
