A really peaceful and relaxing break! The Abbey is beautiful and tranquil –was a fabulous holiday! Facilities were great with the sauna, Jacuzzi, swimming pool, lounge with snooker table and other games, table tennis, outdoor games and facilities on the grounds. And the scenery surrounding the Abbey is gorgeous!

Charles from Highland Club Scotland really looks after you during your stay. You get a welcome pack as well as a guided tour of the Abbey on arrival. We originally booked a five day break but extended to seven, which was no problem. The apartment was clean, comfortable, well-designed and located near to the car park. We had our own private entrance and so didn’t have to enter through the main building. The place has its own character and design, where you just feel at home.

The only thing, there was a problem with the TV, which wasn't really an issue for us, but were given access to another apartment whilst this was being fixed.

We've been recommending this place to family and friends since! Highly recommend both the apartment and Highland Club -will definitely be back! Top Marks.

Amazing Location Right On Lough Ness

  • 5 of 5

We were on honeymoon in the highlands! The property was top class in every way from cleanliness to the facilities on offer. It was well maintained and bright with everything and more, that you would expect from 4 star accommodation!

The apartment had its own private entrance and access to the abbey was right next door where we got access to a majestic games room with table soccer, snooker table, board games, table tennis. In the grounds of the abbey there's a tennis court, badminton & football nets as well as boules, croquet & life size draughts and a kids play park. Can't forget to mention the swimming pool and sauna etc too...you don't need to go anywhere else.

There's also a lovely restaurant overlooking Lough Ness within the abbey grounds - food very reasonable and staff so friendly.

The village itself is quaint and within easy walking distance from the property. The vilage has everything: supermarket, pubs, restaurants and gift shops which are not overpriced ! There is a canal running through the village where you can cycle or walk alongside, taking in the wonderful scenery. I have no doubt we will return to this property again and to the highland club in a few years time!

" A breathtaking location"

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the highlands and from the moment our journey took us through Loch Lomond we were in awe on the natural beauty of the area. The drive alone was worth a review in itself . 3 hours from Glasgow and the time flew in looking at the dramatic landscape.

We fell in love with the quaint village the moment we arrived . A Canal runs right through the middle of the village into Loch Ness and is nestled between old stone cottages , pubs and shops. you could spend a day sitting along the bank benches watching the boats pass through the Loch.

We stayed in Moathouse 9 in the Old Monastry Abbey which has been converted into the The Highland Club complex. The Highland club has everything we needed to be entertained for the weekend from its private swimming pool and games room and the grounds also have tennis courts , football & cricket pitch plus a childrens playground

Moat house 9 was situated just to the right of the main entrance to the Highland club and with no stairs or corridors to navigate it was easy to access- it even has its own garden which was great for the kids . It was perfect for us ( 2 adults& 2 kids) The Apartment was spotless and have was well equipped to look after a family of 4.

There were too many activities to mention but you have to visit the Ben Nevis skiing range (40 mins away) plus the Jacobite Steam Train trip ( which is the train used in the Harry potter Movie) and the numerous Loch Ness boat Cruises

This place has to be seen to be believed and the photos on the website do not do it justice. We can wait to go back next year !

Fantastic base for a highland retreat

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic apartment in the impressive Highland Club. I have now used this particular apartment several times, very warm, clean and comfortable. It is one of the few apartments with direct access to grounds of the highland club with fantastic views across the cricket pitch, you can see a fair distance which is ideal for my children as they feel free to roam the grounds with minimal distance supervision from me.

Perfect vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

Owner contacted me for a review. In May last year, we stayed for 7 nights at the Highland Club. The apartment (MoatHouse 9) was unique, spacious, beautifully finished and fully equipped. We stayed in a few nights and cooked ourselves, the kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. The apartment occupied two floors (a bit steep however) and had two ground floor entrances. We were able to park right outside the door. Everything in the apartment was top notch and it was so quiet and peaceful.

The abbey building itself was absolutely stunning, overlooking loch ness - we took the Loch Ness Boat trip cruise from the village but did'nt spot the monster ! The spa, gym and swimming pool were just open and spanking new – great leisure facilities ! The games room was spectacular!

P.S. Have to mention the Lochside restaurant - it was onsite. What a location - thought we were on a boat, excellent food, friendly staff and only two minutes walk from our apartment.
