About this property

Ca' Della Luce Terrace

Created with a generous serving of Venetian verve and va-va-voom, we proudly present apartment Ca’ Della Luce.

Peacefully positioned in the refined, palazzo-packed parish of San Samuele close to the Grand Canal in the district of San Marco, and flooded with light as befits its name along with an elegance that reveals its owners’ taste and designer’s talents, the apartment sleeps 6 within the top 2 floors of the property reached by stairs.

Crowned with a furnished ‘altana’ roof terrace * all of your own enjoying exceptional vistas across the surrounding terracotta rooftops to some of Venice’s most iconic landmarks including the domes of Salute and St. Mark’s Campanile, Ca’ Della Luce offers the convenience and comfort of Wi-Fi and air-conditioning throughout while an interplay of choice linens and velvet, Farrow & Ball wallpapers, custom-built furnishings and well-chosen upholstery breathes life into its traditional framework.

Following hot on the heels of our popular Ca’ Dell’ Opera, accommodation commences on the 3rd floor and comprises:

- A spacious sitting/dining room dressed in a cool and classic palette of muted neutrals brightened by splashes of teal and Tiffany blue against a backdrop of white painted beams and burnished wooden parquet.

- A small up-to-date and well-equipped kitchen to the side with dappled grey marble work surfaces and Miele oven.

- Two delightful bedrooms – the master in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Lotus’ Damask print with double bed and a twin decked out in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Tessella’ with 2 singles.

- A contemporary-style bathroom decorated entirely in Italian mosaic with bathtub and hand held shower.

Stairs rising to the 4th floor:

- A characterful studio doubling up as an additional 3rd bedroom with double bed, its own en-suite bathroom with shower (again in mosaic), plus steps giving rise to the…

Furnished ‘altana’ roof terrace * – a magical place for whiling away your downtime and soaking up the atmosphere of this most special of towns.

Important: please note that the apartment only accepts fully supervised children over 6 years of age or under 1 year (non-walking babies) because of the internal stairs, ‘altana’ rooftop terrace.

OUR COMMENT

A comfortable and light-filled beacon of style with a fabulous ‘altana’ in San Samuele.

Rubbing shoulders with some of the city’s most coveted residential addresses and ideally placed for the first time or regular visitor to Venice who appreciates peaceful surroundings yet who’d like to stay close to many of Venice’s star attractions.

Within a stone’s throw of the Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art, and within moments of several osterie, the outdoor cafes of Campo Santo Stefano, a wine shop, a local grocery/delicatessen, plus a well-stocked Punto supermarket just a little further on.

Seconds to the area’s antique shops and galleries including that of interior designer Chiarastella Cattana - a discreetly sophisticated showroom of fine and distinctively woven textiles and furnishings and, for scent-lovers, the Venice outlet of the famous Florentine ‘Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’ - one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and one time fragrance maker to Catherine de’ Medici.

Also close to two vaporetto (water bus) stops - San Samuele and Sant’ Angelo - for foot-friendly exploration of the city, and moments to the local ‘traghetto’ at Garzoni which, during operating times, ferries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to San Toma in the district of San Polo.

* Please be aware that the ‘altana’ is only accessible via the studio/3rd bedroom

** Are you a part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer several apartments in very close proximity: Ca’ Grassi 1, Ca’ Grassi 2, Ca’ Grassi 3, Ca’ Del Teatro, Ca’ Del Mercante, Ca’ Dei Colori 1 and Ca’ Dei Colori 2

Great apartment & location
You could not wish for a better location to stay in Venice. The apartment is in a quiet area but close enough to all the major sites. There are many restaurants and bars a few minutes walk away and a water bus stop also. Lovely accommodation and superb service from Marta at Views on Venice. Book a water taxi to & from the airport through them. It is expensive but worth every penny for the views and convenience. A wonderful stay in Venice.

Beautiful apartment
Beautiful apartment right in the heart of San Marco. However, though we felt close to everything, our little courtyard had a very quiet and local vibe. The host arranged our water taxi from the airport and then to the train station which was very helpful. Check-in and out was easy. And the apartment was very clean, big and comfortable for our family of five. We would stay here again.

Outstanding!
What an impressive property! From the spacious bedrooms and living area to the amazing terrace that overlooked the rooftops of Venice. Being able to enjoy a bottle of local wine on the rooftop, whilst the sun set was one of the highlights of our stay in Venice. The location is ideal and is walk-able to all major attractions. It's also less that a 5 minute walk to transport via canal . If you are considering staying here, do it. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful summer Venice break
I booked this apartment as a surprise birthday present for my wife and as a family break and after looking at many many others. I booked it mainly due to how beautiful it looked, it's roof terrace and it's location! It didn't disappoint on any front! We got a water taxi from the airport (definitely worth the extra Euros!) and were met by Christina who took us the short distance to the Apartment and explained everything. The whole stay was wonderful and the roof terrace was amazing. We sat each night listening to all the clock towers competing with their bells and watched a huge cruise ship glide along the rooftops while sipping prosecco!! The apartment is in a fantastic location to get to all the tourist hotspots but was also tucked away down a quiet alley at the end of which was the Grand Canal! It was a magical week and we will definitely return and highly recommend Views on Venice for anybody wanting to stay in Venice!

About the host

Hosted by Views On Venice

Host profile image
Views on Venice was founded in the late 1990’s when the concept of short term apartment rentals was in its infancy and rarely considered an option by most visitors to the city. As a ‘thirty-something’ Venetian excited by the new business and communication opportunities offered by the internet, I decided to link up with a close childhood friend in creating a partnership which, at the time, was a novelty in Venice.
The idea we had in mind was to approach the traditional management of my family’s apartments from an entirely different angle, while at the same time resisting the attentions of those wanting to transform my family's palazzo into a prestigious hotel.
Our aim was to offer these apartments, as well as those of friends, for rental to an international clientele who’d take pleasure in the comfort, freedom and authenticity of ‘living at home as a Venetian’ rather than merely observing the city from the confines of an anonymous hotel room or suite.
The common denominator then, as now, was to offer ‘something extra’ amidst an already extraordinary city - an added dimension which turns a ‘stay’ into an ‘experience’ and a 'dream' into 'reality'.
