Curly Tail Cottage is a one bedroom comfortable cottage, with stunning views. Located in the North York Moors National Park, yet close to the amenities of both Scarborough and Whitby. We welcome one small well behaved dog. It has its own enclosed garden. The cottage is ideal for couples wanting a relaxing break. As well as having some lovely walks locally and along the coast. About Ruth Field

We bought this small holding in 2007. We have horses at livery as well as horses of our own.

Both my husband and I live and work in our local community and our children go to the local school.

We are on site so if guests should have an queries or need some local information we are always happy to help.

Why Ruth Field chose Scarborough

We bought Thirley Banks Cottage after leaving our arable farm. We wanted a fresh start whilst still wanting to live and work in a rural area. It also provides our children with a beautiful place to grow up.

What makes this cottage unique

The scenery and views from our windows is stunning, it is hard to believe that we are still so close to the seaside. It really is the best of both worlds. This area provides a good balance of coast and country.

Car: necessary

We are in a rural location so a car is essential. However, we are within a 15 minute drive of Scarborough and a 30 min drive into Whitby. The nearby village of Scalby has two pubs and a village stores that sells bread, milk, newspapers etc.

Dalby Forest is not far with Go Ape as well as mountain biking trails. We can store guests bikes (they are left though at the guests risk). Please ask when booking.

The Open Air Theatre at Scarboroughs North Bay has many concerts in the summer months. We have had some very well known bands perform.
