About the property

Self catering cottages

Beaver Cottages (AA 4* rated) has been converted from an old Cornish farmhouse (originally called Belvoir House). The property consists of a 2 bedroom owners cottage at the back of the property, a 2 bedroom letting cottage called the Lodge which was originally the front of the farmhouse, and an 1 bedroom annex on the side called The Smithy, also a letting unit. Each property has its own private garden. There is a drive up the side of the cottages, with plenty of parking for guests.

The cottages all have double glazing and central heating.

An old Cornish stile in the drive leads across the fields to the coastal path, with fantastic walking opportunities and easy walks to both Tintagel and Trebarwith Strand.

The Lodge can sleep upto 6 people with a double bedroom, a twin/superking room and a luxury double sofa bed in the lounge. The Smithy can sleep upto 4 with a double bedroom and a double sofa bed in the lounge.

About Nicola and Steve Rumming

It has been a long term dream of ours to give up the rat race, move to Cornwall and run a holiday home, and this year our dream finally came true!

We have always loved Cornwall, particularly the North coast with its rugged cliffs, pretty secluded coves, long sandy beaches and stunning scenery. We even decided to walk the SW Coast Path during holidays and weekends to discover more of Cornwall, and hopefully now we are living there, we can finish this 630 mile walk!

Nicola and Steve Rumming purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Nicola and Steve Rumming chose Tintagel

The location of Beaver Cottages is fantastic being only 1/4 mile across a couple of fields to the cliff top and the SW Coast Path. The path even starts from our drive over an old Cornish stile.

Although located in the small hamlet of Tregatta, Tintagel is within easy reach on foot either across the fields - approx 1/2 mile, or via the road. There are plenty of pubs, restaurants, cafes and small shops located there.

The beach of Trebarwith Strand is a very short drive away, or again about a 20 minute walk along the cliff tops.

What makes this cottage unique

The walking is great in the area and there is a bus service right past the house up and down the coast which makes bus/walks combinations possible.

Tintagel Castle is nearby, as are the picturesque villages of Port Isaac, Boscastle and Crackington Haven.

Slightly further afield, Bude, Padstow, Newquay and Bodmin Moor are all less than an hours drive.

So much to see and do!

Thanks for a lovely stay.

The cottage was just right. With everything we needed. Nicely decorated and very clean.

The location was great too, close enough to lots of things to do and see.

Nicola and Steve, the owners were happy to help with anything.

A beautiful location and a lovely property.

  • 5 of 5

The owners Nicola and Steven were very welcoming. Even made sure the heating was on for when we arrived which was very appreciated. They left complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk which was a lovely touch. The cottage itself was in an amazing location. Not far from local amenities and great for a beautiful costal walk. There was 6 of us in total 4 adults and 2 children with 2 dogs. Which we were all very comfortable. The board games and wii kept the children entertained. The cottage was well stocked with everything from cooking utensils to even body boards that we could use. We had an amazing time and will definitely return.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments. Yes, although the cottages are clean and tidy, they do need a bit of updating and the plan is to decorate over the winter period and also to make the lounge bigger. Hope to see you again one day. Regards Nicola

Ein mit viel Liebe restauriertes Cottage

  • 3 of 5

Alles sehr sauber, sehr gute Matratzen.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your nice review although we are a little disappointed with only 3 stars. It was unfortunate that the weather was a bit damp and dismal whilst you were here but as you mentioned, the central heating is only on during the cooler months. The electric heaters are new and efficient but being fan heaters, they will make a little noise. The cost of electricity in the cottage is only a pound or two a day if the heaters and cooker are in use so pretty cheap, and the rental price is lower to reflect that electric is payable in addition. We have also now provided small oil radiators for the bedrooms in case the summer evenings are chilly, as recommended by yourself. I agree there is more traffic during the day in summer (but not to an annoying level) and the evenings and night time are quiet.

The perfect location to explore Tintagel and the surrounding area. Tintagel Castle lies only a short walk away, along with the dog friendly beaches of Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove. Port Isaac (of Doc Martin fame), Boscastle, Bude and Padstow are all within a short drive. The South West Coast path is within 1/4 mile with stunning cliff tops walks in both directions. Further inland a few miles, Bodmin Moor is easily accessible.
