Overview

About the property

2 twins & 2 double rooms. Sleeps 8. Seating for 8 in sitting and dining rooms.

Corner Cottage can comfortably accommodate 8 people in 4 double bedrooms (1 King-size bedroom, 1 Double and 2 twin bedrooms) and has seating for 8 people in both the dining room and the sitting room.

Family-Friendly

With a travel cot, stair-gate, high-chair, board games and cable TV available for your use, we hope that all the family will be safe, comfortable and occupied whilst at the cottage.

The pub across the road, the Sly Fox, is also very family friendly with a carvery on Sundays and a huge garden with climbing frames for the kids.

The farm shop at Craig’s Farm Dairy is just a couple of minutes’ walk away and has all the essentials as well as their own amazing home-made ice-cream… Go on… Treat yourself ;-)

Pet-Friendly

We have two big, energetic dogs so understand their needs and yours as their owners. We are more than happy to have up to two big dogs staying but ask you to contact us first if you have more pets because depending on the age and breed, we will try to accommodate your needs.

We do ask that, like our own dogs, yours please stay downstairs and off the furniture.

Tummy-Friendly

With the Sly Fox right across the road and the famous Smuggler’s Inn at Osmington Mills just a few minutes’ walk away, you may not need to venture further from the cottage, but there are so many restaurants from beach-side cafés to fast-food to formal dining in both Weymouth and Dorchester that you will never be stumped for ideas on where to eat.

About Samantha Ayton

Well we're not upside down people but for some reason the website keeps turning our photo upside down!

We live in Surrey with our young son and our 2 big dogs.

Chris is an engineer and I am a language tutor but we love to get away at the weekend and walk the dogs and visit new places.

We hope you will be as drawn to its fabulous location and cosy feel as we are.

Samantha Ayton purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Samantha Ayton chose Weymouth

We spent hours on the Internet looking for family-friendly and dog-friendly holiday cottages, but there was always something not quite right. Whether it was the fact that they accepted dogs, but the garden wasn’t fully enclosed, or there was nothing in the area for our son (now aged 4) to do or no nearby pub or decent restaurants to eat in, so in the end we gave up scouring the Internet and instead spent months looking for a holiday home that would meet all of our needs.

We believe that in Corner Cottage, we have found a really lovely home, in a really lovely part of the world that ticks all the boxes and we very much hope that you will love it as much as we do should you decide to come and stay for a while.

What makes this cottage unique

We fell in love with Corner Cottage at first sight. The combination of the sunny garden, cute thatched roof with the cat and mouse on top and ample space inside, combined with the proximity to the beach, the pub, the shop - and of course our own home in Surrey - just made it perfect.

There's so much to do for our little boy so he loves going down there and we just couldn't be more delighted with it.

Great location, spacious and homely accomadation.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely long weekend to celebrate our grown up daughters birthday whose main request was to go to Durdle Door, the house is so homely we felt comfortable immediately and no one wanted to leave!

The location is great, if you like walking ( as we do ) you can join the Jurassic coastal path at Osmington Mills ( has a great 13th Century pub ) which is only just over a mile away via a footpath directly from the house!

We loved that the accomadation was dog friendly and all the pubs welcomed dogs too:)

The owners have thought of everything, the teenager in our family appreciated the WIFI!

Our family age ranged from my father @81, hubby and I in our 50's, daughter and boyfriend mid 20's down to the teen @17 years old and Dora dog. Everyone loved it.

Lovely home in a beautiful area!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my family (7 adults, 1 child) in late November. The house was in a nice location - a short drive to the Durdle Door and other beautiful coastal sites and about a 30 minute walk to the Smugglers Inn. The house was nice, modern, exceptionally clean and perfect for our stay. Sam was incredibly nice, easy to work with and responsive to everything we needed.

Nice Cozy Cottage With a Few Niggles

  • 3 of 5

Lovely owners who made us feel very welcome. Amazing village with some great walks. Sly Fox looked permanently closed, but head to The Springhead at Sutton Pointz as The Smugglers was very disappointing.

A few niggles with the house such as dodgy shower in the en-suite (offered to fix while we were there but we only had 2 days left anyway), damp in the main bathroom and a lot of cobwebs in the kitchen. The additional £50 cleaning charge as well as £15 extra for the dogs was a bit steep as dogs aren't allowed on the furniture or upstairs anyway so made it feel a bit pricey for what it was.

The road outside is surprisingly busy, even in the middle of the night, so if you're a light sleeper pick a room at the back.

Owner's Response: Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Since I don't live locally, I rely to a great extent on our guests' comments to let me know how things are, so your feedback - even constructive criticism - is always welcome. I can only apologise about the damp in the bathroom. It is something that I was made aware of last month so I asked the cleaners to have a really good go at it but we are also shutting the cottage down for 3 weeks from the 3rd November in order to have a whole new bathroom fitted and also have the cottage re-painted from top to bottom to freshen it up while it's out of action anyway because of the bathroom. As you say, we offered to have the shower in the other bathroom fixed the same day that you brought it to my attention but since you declined the offer I feel it's a little unfair to complain about it. In any case it has since been fixed as we sent someone in the day you left so that the next guests didn't have the same trouble. I understand that the Sly Fox shut down at the end of August and is up for sale. Clearly not within my control but as you say, there are some lovely nearby options. I would be curious to hear why the Smugglers was disappointing as we have always really enjoyed it and it usually gets rave reviews. Apologies also for the cobwebs, I will relay your comments to the cleaners. Our terms and conditions do state that we need to be told of any issues in order to have the opportunity to address them during your stay and I could have easily had the cleaners pop back in to take care of this for you had I been aware of it. Nonetheless, I am delighted that despite these little niggles you enjoyed our cosy cottage, the beautiful village and the surrounding walks.

Owner's Response: Dear Carol, Many thanks for your review on Corner Cottage. Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you but I've only just found where they keep the reviews on here!! I'm delighted to see that you thought it was lovely and also liked the village, but your comment "What more could you want" did make me wonder what more you could in fact want and what would have led you to leave a 5* response rather than 4*. I know you can't reply on here but if you do get a second to drop me an email to let me know I'd be hugely grateful as we are always seeking to improve and value our guests' feedback hugely. Very best wishes, Sam

Great cottage (very good value) in beautiful area

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Corner Cottage. Sam was an absolutely pleasure to deal with and was very prompt in dealing with all aspects of the booking and then with a request once we'd arrived. The cottage was clean, the kitchen is well equipped and the beds very comfortable. The surrounding area is beautiful and, being very lucky with the weather, we enjoyed some great walks. We'd certainly recommend.

Beautifully appointed cottage

  • 5 of 5

Exactly as described

Very well furnished and equipped. Scrupulously clean

Recognised the duvet cover from John Lewis 😂

A great deal of thought has been put in to this house and all rooms are very well turned out

Very very well equipped with appliances, Smart TV, etc etc

Owner a delight to deal with

We did have a minor "plumbing issue" and the owner could not have been more attentive

Thanks for a lovely stay
