Peacefull relaxing holiday.

We stayed over the Easter weekend in 2018. The weather wasn't the best with snow and rain all weekend but the facilities in the lodge more than made up for this. There is plenty to do in the lodge with free Netflix and Amazon TV available with my Prime account. the beds are very comfortable and the living area boasts not 1 but 2 reclining sofas for relaxing on whilst watching the 55" 4k TV. The red squirrels kept us entertained during the day and carpet boules, chess, dominoes, card games and family fortunes keeping us amused on a night time. My kids took advantage of the speedy WIFI which meant they were never bored. the hot tub was an absolute delight and with one of the few lodges that had privacy on the balcony we really felt comfortable in it. We had a lovely surprise when we arrived with a complimentary bottle of wine in the fridge upon our arrival. We took our Labrador with us as the lodge was pet friendly. The dog walks nearby are excellent although the paths as expected are quite a bit muddy in the rain. We dined at the local hotel (The Coach House) for our Sunday lunch which we found very reasonable at £14.95 for a 2 coarse meal. The food and staff were excellent and come highly recommended. We will defiantly be looking to book this lodge again next time we want a short break away. We were not lucky enough to have clear skies but can imagine the view on a clear night would be brilliant. Thanks to Gill and Brian for letting us experience your wonderful lodge.

Really enjoyed our stay. Brian and Gill were fantastic for us and couldn't have done any more to help us out. The lodge is very clean and homely and you feel at home as soon as you arrive. Will definately be visiting again.

Stunning lodge aurrounded by beautiful woodland

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I go on holiday at least once per year to a cottage, lodge, etc. and this was by far our favourite so far.

Absolutely stunning, sunken hot tub on a lovely little decking area where attention to detail conpletes the entire experience. Fantastic lounge area with massive TV including netflix, the use of high speed WiFi, a selection of DVDs, board games, etc. The list goes on.

Brian and Gill go out their way to ensure customer experience is their focus and provide the little essentials you always seem to forget.

Would highly recommend this lodge and would definitely visit in the future.

In a word........Perfect!!

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we arrived at the lodge, we realised that we were in for the perfect stay. The more we explored our Christmas retreat, the more obvious it was that we had booked with people who care about their customers.

Brian & Gill had been in touch a number of times, prior to our arrival, asking if there was anything specific that we needed for our stay. As we were booked in for the five nights over Christmas, all we wanted was a Christmas feel - we were not disappointed!!!

From the polar bear in the lounge area, to the Christmas tree in the dining area, we could see the effort that had been made to make it feel like a home from home. There were even a few gifts and Christmas crackers waiting on the table! (Thanks again!!!)

The lodge was spotless from top to bottom, and the facilities were second to none. Throughout the property there was everything that you would need and anything you may have forgotten!

The outside space was as pleasurable as the inside space. The decking area had enough seating for everyone and, although it was too cold for us to sit out there on a night time (we even had late night snow on Christmas Day!), there were cushions available to make it as comfortable as possible.

And then we come to the icing on the cake.... the hot tub!

Even with temperatures down in the single figures, it was perfect for laying back and enjoying the famous Northumberland Dark Sky!

The location was perfect for us, with a short walk (approximately 1.25 miles) into the centre of Otterburn. Although there was an ‘off road’ walk, the weather was such that we stuck with the tarmac route, which involved a short section (400m or so) of road without a path. It is worth adding that this is a very dark, yet very quiet road, with a good line of sight to ensure that approaching vehicles can be seen in plenty of time. Gill & Brian even had this covered, with a number of torches available to borrow to ensure a safe walk in the dark!

For good food, ale and cocktails, we would recommend the William de Percy in Otterburn - we ended up visiting most days!

Summing up our stay at the lodge, and the service that we received, we’ll finish back where we started.......Perfect!!!

Thank you Gill & Brian x

P.S. We have no doubt we’ll be visiting again!
