About the property

Privacy,Stunning Views to the River Tiber Valley Below, between Florence and Rome

Villa L'Arco is a recently renovated typical Umbrian villa. Standing on the hills of Todi, in the Tiber valley natural park, it lies at the centre of one of Italy’s areas of greatest historical, artistic & cultural interest and outstanding natural beauty. Surrounded by olive-groves, vineyards and its own woodland with centuries-old oak trees is a perfect place for those who love privacy. The villa's interior is airy and spacious, its large windows with typical arches let in plenty of light and provide spectacular views. Its wooden floors and pastel-coloured rooms with handcrafted furniture and some beautiful paintings create a warm atmosphere of relaxation and well-being. Air conditioning throughout the whole house and anatomical latex mattresses will keep you cool. You can enjoy a meal on the spacious veranda which overlooks pool and gardens or just revitalize yourself in the Whirlpool area of the Swimming Pool and then send photos of the sun setting to your friends via the villa’s Wi-Fi

INTERIORS & GROUNDS: A spacious living room with a fireplace & the kitchen have large glass doors leading to a vine-covered veranda which offers a shady spot for relaxing with tremendous views of rolling hills & distant villages. You can enjoy long al fresco meals on the Spacious Veranda(12m x3m) which overlooks the private pool & the beautifully tended gardens.Broad lawn full of roses, perfumed by lavender & rosemary bushes, surrounds the house and leads down towards a paved terracotta terrace with an alluring Pool with Whirlpool area, where loungers beckon to sunbathers & you can sit with your laptop & send photos of the sun setting behind the hills to your friends via the villa’s Wi-Fi. GROUND FLOOR: Spacious fully equipped Kitchen with dining table;large Living room with fireplace, both of which Air-conditioned. Spacious veranda with tables & chairs, hall, 2 baths with shower, pantry. FIRST FLOOR: 4 double Air-conditioned bedrooms; 1 small room with balcony; 1 bathroom with bathtub/shower.

TODI: 5 miles away from the villa, is the old town of Todi, founded by the Umbrians (some cite the date 2700 BC). Situated in ancient times on the border between the Etruscan and Umbrian territories, not far from Rome and Florence, Todi has been defined as the most livable town on earth, the 'ideal town' by research of the University of Kentucky for its size, its climate, its hilltop location and for its harmonious relationship to its surroundings. A striking artistic centre in a magnificent position dominating the Tiber valley, celebrated for its Roman and Etruscan remains, for its palaces, its churches and its atmospheric medieval environment. Picturesque winding streets, stone buildings, medieval wells, arches, sudden ascents and descents that create various perspectives and dramatic views of faraway valleys, hills and mountains all contribute to Todi's unique appeal.

TODI ATTRACTIONS: In the centre of town is the long rectangular Piazza del Popolo, one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, onto which face the Palazzo dei Priori, Palazzo del Popolo and Palazzo del Capitano all originally 13th cent. civic buildings and the 11th-12th cent. Duomo. The Temple of S.M. della Consolazione (16th-17th cent), built to a plan by Bramante is one of Italy's finest Renaissance Churches. The newly restored Museo Civico e Pinacoteca houses important pieces ranging from rare Etruscan coins to 16th c. Italian paintings. In Todi one can find many cultural events and exhibitions. The annual Todi Festival hosts avant-garde music, dance and film productions. An antiques fair takes place every spring. Many celebrated artists and artisans live and have their studios in Todi. The town is rich in art galleries, craft-shops (ceramic, carving), antiques dealers and restorers. You can enjoy the world-renowned Umbrian cuisine in traditional restaurants & food shops: truffles, wines, olive oils.

Guestbook comments from the owner

WE enjoyed our stay at this beautiful Italian villa in the hills of 'heart of Italy.' The accommodations were spectacular and the serenity was great. Monina and Bruno Bucci were the perfect hosts. We had the best time and look forward to returning. The people of Italy were so friendly and the walled cities around Todi were magnificent. If you want a great vacation this is the place to stay.*Robert Dorsa (Las Vegas, NV USA)*

TWO weeks of sunflower glory: starting from one bloom on the first day, the holiday, with the field behind, just grew in beauty. We have so enjoyed such a beautiful house, a gorgeous setting, and our trips - to Todi, Orvieto, Assisi, Gubbio, Spoleto, Montepulciano...a very special time. We'll remember your kindness + generosity, the tranquility-and chasing balls round+round the pool! Many thanks for the use & this home full & warmth + life, and for the glorious nodding heads which greeted us each morning.* Roderick & Patricia- Hug & Bridget Watkins (UK)*

Amazing location and impeccable accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Villa L'Arco June 2016 and we cannot stress enough what a fantastic experience and stay it was. The booking of the villa was quick easy and confirmed within 24 hours. Bruno, the Italian owner, also speaks very good English, French, German and Dutch.

Rosa careered for our needs and provided maid service and would cook traditional Italian meals on request for additional fees.

Both Bruno & Rosa were exceptional hosts and respected our privacy however close enough to provide assistance at short notice if needed.

The villa sits in a tranquil countryside setting and is in a very private spot off the main highway 10 minutes down a well-maintained gravel country road. Located about 5 miles outside of Todi. The sweeping view across the hills and the landscape surrounding the area is beautiful. You can see fields of sunflowers, vineyards and olive orchards. It is greener than Tuscany, but shares a landscape of hill towns.

The four bedrooms were elegantly decorated and air conditioned, beds were very comfortable. The bathroom upstairs is spacious with a shower/tub combination. Additionally there are two bathrooms on the ground floor, all were spotless with a utility room for washing and drying.

The kitchen is well furnished and equipped extremely well. You will find very little in the way of spices or food items left behind by previous guests due to the exceptional cleaning standards between visitors.

The living areas indoors is an amazing space and is very comfortable with plenty of room to relax and chill out. Television included SKY with many English language channels, also dvd player and some movies.

Todi is a lovely medieval town with a EMI supermarket close by that has anything you could need.

Everyone we met was very friendly which made our stay even more special, we cannot thank Rosa & Bruno enough for the exceptional experience and kindness they gave to us making our holiday one of a kind and to be treasured forever.

Cosy Italian Villa

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Villa Arco for one week and it was great. We really liked the area, the food and the hospitality. The house has everything you need to relax - for us, but also the kids loved it. They played in the pool or went out to explore the woods around the house. We brought or bikes and made amazing day trips to Todi and other historic villages in the area. Since the apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, we usually made or own dinner - something we are often to busy to do back home. Thank you for everything, we will be back!

Fantastic Villa, Relaxing Location, Lovely Hosts

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 4, with 2 teenage sons and spent a fantastic week at Villa L'Arco. The Villa is perfect and has everything you could ask for. Rooms are all beautifully decorated and very clean. Air con in all areas was very welcome as we are used to this at home. Bedrooms are very comfortable and spacious. Beautiful pool and gardens which made the holiday so relaxing and peaceful. The whole Villa and grounds are very well maintained and exactly as described in the listing. Kitchen was very well equipped and cooking was easy. Very good access to Todi itself and also the excellent, huge Emi supermarket (about 10 mins drive), which stocks high quality food and anything else you could need. Todi has a good selection of restaurants but we loved the villa and veranda so much that we spent extra evenings at home eating outside overlooking the pool and gardens. Special mention for Rosa who is a fantastic host, full of enthusiasm and hard work and who did everything possible to make our stay as good as it was. Always there if we needed anything, but never intrusive. We asked for the welcome meal on arrival, which we have to say was fantastic and as good as any restaurant food, but cooked and served "at home" by Rosa. So good in fact, that we had a second meal from Rosa later on in the week, which was different but every bit as good. Rosa, we are so glad that you were able to join us for a while on that second evening. It was a pleasure to have your company and to get to know you better. A fantastic holiday in a brilliant villa with a charming host. We very much hope to return.

Beautiful villa in stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We recently spent a wonderful week at Villa L'Arco. The villa was delightful - beautifully furnished, light and airy with a lovely pool and grounds, equipped with swings, table tennis and net for volleyball/badminton. Self-catering for our party of eight (two families with children ranging from 5 to 13) was pretty easy with a very well-equipped kitchen, ample indoor and outdoor dining space and a big supermarket about ten minutes drive away. The owners are great - non-intrusive but on-hand and very helpful when needed. There is plenty to explore in the area and we mixed up relaxation by the pool with half-day outings to some of the neighbouring historic hilltowns. Love Italy. Love Umbria. Love this villa.

Outstanding In Every Way

  • 5 of 5

Bruno and his lovely daughter, Rosa, are exception hosts. They are helpful with whatever one may need, they are responsive to requests and they are delightful people. Rosa is also an excellent baker and, we understand, cook.

The house is great. The house and property are as stated in the description on Homeaway. It let's in a lot of light, it's very nicely decorated, it feels open and summery. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need, the living room and patio with table and seating area are very comfortable.

The pool makes it hard to leave!

We were here for 3 weeks and found the location just outside of Todi to be excellent for reaching all the areas in Umbria as well as getting into Tuscany. We focused on Umbria since we have spent a lot of time in Tuscany.

The twice a week maid service was more than enough.

The TV service was also great allowing us to watch CNN and a number of movies in English.

We really can't say enough about how much we enjoyed the Villa and getting to know Bruno and Rosa.

Beautiful villa in a spectacular location

  • 5 of 5

Booking the villa was straightforward and very easy. Bruno, the owner, speaks very good English. He is quick to respond to your questions.

The villa is about 5 miles outside of Todi in a country setting. From the terrace you have sweeping view across the hills. The landscape surrounding the area is quite beautiful. You see fields of sunflowers, vineyards and olive orchards. It is greener than Tuscany, but shares a landscape of hill towns.

The first and most important aspect of any villa is comfort of the beds. The four bedrooms were beautifully decorated and air conditioned. There is one bathroom upstairs that is spacious with a shower/tub combination. The other two bathrooms are on the main floor off of the entry area. All are quite nice, but not overly luxurious.

The kitchen is very well stocked with anything you could need. You will find very little in the way of spices or food items left behind by previous guests. You may find salt and a coffee filter. The stove and oven were a little tricky because you need to pay attention when Bruno gives the orientation. You must switch on the electrical above the stove before you try to light the appliances.

The living areas indoor and out were very comfortable with plenty of room to spread out. Television was SKY and included many English language channels--an unexpected surprise on the few occasions we decided to watch a movie in the evening.

Todi is a lovely town and has an EMI supermarket that has anything you could need. Everyone we encountered was very friendly to the non-English speaking people in our group.

This is a great villa and I would return in a heartbeat.
