About Elaine

Having been born and brought up abroad, I came to Holyport village in pursuit of playing polo having caught the bug in South Africa. I have owned three properties in the village as I love it and the community so much.

Elaine purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Elaine chose Maidenhead

Property rarely comes up for sale in this village as no one moves from here as its such a perfect location for London and Windsor while still having the tranquillity and community spirit of the village.

What makes this cottage unique

Perfectly located in the village with two great pubs either end of the street who serve great food and beverages. The village is fantastically located for Windsor Castle, LEGOLAND, Bray ( The Fat Duck and The Waterside Inn)and London ( 19mins train ride). It has a sunlit court yard with comfy seating at the back and a lovely wood burner for the winter months. It has been recently renovated in a contemporary style but keeping the cottage's original features. It has a well equipped kitchen along with a dishwasher, washing machine, oven, hob and microwave.

Beautiful country cottage retreat

  • 5 of 5

Spent three nights at this cosy cottage as a pre Christmas break with our daughters. The cottage was beautifully restored with quality furnishings, comfortable beds and situated in a lovely rural area.

We took the train from Windsor riverside direct to London Vauxhall and then into the city by tube. Station parking was reasonable and the 9.45 train was quiet getting us into central London in an hour, completely stress free.

We spent a day in Windsor visiting the castle and town and it was only a 15 minute drive from the cottage.

The cottage is well equipped, lovely and warm, especially with the log burner, and ideally situated within easy walking distance of 3 pubs .

We would love to revisit in the summer and explore this area further.

Many thanks to our excellent host Elaine for a great stay.

Wonderful English Country Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Elaine's cottage in Holyport. We really wanted the English village experience and we were not disappointed here. The location gave us easy access to the M4 and points east and west. Getting into London was simple: just a short drive to the Slough train station then a 15-minute train ride to Paddington. Windsor is just a short drive away and we also went west to Salisbury, Bath, and Cardiff.

We also really liked that there are four pubs that we could walk to from the cottage. All of them were great, but the closest one, The White Hart, was outstanding. It is about 500 feet away from the cottage, and everyone there (both staff and clientele) was so welcoming to us. They have wonderful food as well (just keep in mind that the kitchen closes at 9 pm). We stopped in at The White Hart every night of our stay.

The cottage itself was clean, very comfortable, and well-equipped. The WiFi was excellent. The master bath is fairly small, but absolutely fine if you are not too large of a person. The hall bath was larger and more comfortable for my husband. There is a clothes washer in the cottage, but no clothes dryer. This was not a problem, but something that a potential renter should know. (There is a rack for drying clothes, which worked just fine for us.) While we had no issues with anything not working while we were in the cottage, I have it on good authority that the handyman who handles any issues is quick to respond and top-notch.

The owner, Elaine, was very responsive and very helpful. I highly recommend this property, and would stay here again!

Perfect for short stay at Thorpe Park

  • 5 of 5

Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Beds were made up separately for the children (14 & 12) as requested which was perfect. We had a good size double. Good quality of bedding and towels. 2 bathrooms. Great wifi, parking in front of cottage. Key safe entry which I much prefer. Close to Thorpe Park, Windsor etc. Pub a few paces away- All good :)

PERFECT COUNTRY STAY

  • 5 of 5

Elaine's cottage is top class. Beautifully renovated with comfortable beds and so many kitchen utensils, along with absolutely everything one has at home! Very nice wee backyard with a table and chairs and loungers. Very relaxing. Set in a beautiful area with a country feeling.

White Hart pub, seven doors along was absolutely fantastic. The landlady was very welcoming, decor was beautiful and the two dinners we had there were extremely good value and presented to a high standard. Excellent.

- Just a note to advise that there are a couple of shops nearby in Stroud Farm Rd for milk, bread etc. We only discovered them on the day we were leaving!
