About Karen Hardy

Hi and welcome.I have lived in st ives for 18 years, having moved from Hertfordshire,i used to run a successful guest house in st ives.I still live in st ives which is a truly amazing place to be.

Why Karen Hardy chose St Ives

This holiday retreat i used to stay here with my own children, who still come and stay,we had many a picnic down by the stream in the woods, climbing trees and night time was spent on the patio with a barbecue, or in the entertainment, with various singers ,plenty to do for the children.A very good base to exsplore from.

Basic accommodation in tired holiday park

  • 2 of 5

Karen was very helpful and fixed the shower when it broke and answered all our questions quickly. The bathroom was very basic and there were a few black dog hairs on the towels and bedding. We paid a similar amount per night for other accommodation in Bodmin moor the week before which was larger and cleaner so we felt slightly disappointed when we arrived here. Probably more suitable for a weekend for a couple rather than a family. Karen very helpful but we wouldn't stay again.

Owner's Response: I'm very dissapointed with this review,my bedding and towels i am very fussy with, i take paticular care with the washing, always ensure the towels and bedding are soft and smell nice.I dont own a dog,so dont know as to where dog hairs would have come from.my Other reviews do not reflect any thing like this review. The shower did get broken, and was sorted straight away,,no mention of dog hair.i do realise that things do go wrong ,and we dont always like a place we stay in.I have put alot of thought into the accomadation, to ensure my guest are comfortable and happy.

a peaceful retreat in a lovely location

  • 4 of 5

The property is very compact, but clean and comfortable and it had everything we needed. It is in a lovely woodland setting where there are birds, squirrels, rabbits, ferns and wild flowers, and pleasant woodland walks. As the cottage is located on the edge of the St Ives holiday park, there are facilities nearby such as a small convenience store, a bar, social activities and tourist information, but these are very unobtrusive. Lots of parking available too, and an hourly bus service to St Ives or Penzance. We enjoyed being so close to Hayle and St Ives beaches and it was great being able to bring our small dog, who loved it. If I had any minor comments it would be to say can we have some saucepan lids and the shower door could do with a little fixing up, but if that's all, it's got to be good hasn't it! Would definitely recommend.
