About the property

Recently refurbished to an extremely high standard, this charming traditional fisherman's cottage is seconds away from Babbacombe Downs and it's spectacular views of Lyme Bay and the beaches below. Accommodation comprises a spacious lounge diner with many original features, separate brand new kitchen and brand new downstairs bathroom. Upstairs the three bedrooms comfortably sleep five, with a master double and two single rooms, one with bunk beds. The property has a small suntrap courtyard to the rear. This property is perfectly situated within walking distance of two beaches and just moments away from the restaurants, pubs and cafes on the Downs, and all the other amenities Babbacombe has to offer. Plenty of other tourist attractions are nearby and it is possible to get the bus or a cab into Torquay from the bottom of the road. Due to the proximity to the Downs there is no off road parking in Princes St, but opposite there is a car park which can easily be paid for either daily or weekly. The house is fully equipped with all the comforts that you want on your holiday; wifi, new smart TV, DVD, CD stereo/radio, washer/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, hair dryer. Children are most welcome to our holiday home. If you require a travel cot and or high chair, please let me know when booking.

We saw this property late last summer and were immediately bowled over by its unique location and its charm. My husband Karl was born and raised in Torquay and even learned to ride his bike on Babbacombe Downs so he knows the area inside out. It's a great place for a relaxed family holiday and we love bringing our family here for a proper English seaside experience, the way we did with our parents.

Well presented holiday let in the heart of the English Riviera

Our first visit to the south Devon coastline was in this delightful little terraced cottage.

The place has been refurbished to a high level with some original features restored to give a glimpse of its original format. The extended area of the property includes the well appointed kitchen and the property's only toilet and shower room. Above this is the smallest bedroom containing the bunk beds which the kids loved. One thing to note is that there is no divider between this small bedroom and the one containing the single bed and truckle bed. It didn't bother us as there were only 4 in our group. The mattress in the main bedroom was a little too soft for my bad back however that is very much a personal opinion.

The owner has great communication skills and provided timely emails throughout the pre holiday stage.

The location of the property is ideal for local shops and restaurants, all with a short distance. The Buccaneer Inn was good value, the Babbacombe Bay Hotel was lovely for cocktails and breakfast, lunches at the Cliff Cafe were delicious and portions were large. Hanbury Fish and Chips at the end of the road provided us with the best Fish and Chip experience for a long time.

We visited Torquay regularly and loved the marina, the steam trains from Paignton taking us to Kingswear for a passenger ferry trip to Dartmouth are recommended, and a wander round the winding streets of Brixham is a great day out.

All in all, we would not hesitate to recommend this property, in this location for anyone considering a first visit to the area.
