A hidden gem
We had a delightfully relaxing 8 nights at this beautifully quirky chalet, Julie and her husband waited until nearly midnight to welcome us to their chalet as we had problems with our flight and ended up 12 hours later than expected. The chalet was lovely and clean and set in an idyllic location with only one house in the vicinity, the owners were charming. The views the first morning were breathtaking as it was dark when we arrived so had no idea what to expect. It snowed the first day to the delight of our 3 grandchildren who spent the morning bombing up and down the slope beside the chalet on their bumboards!! We had five days of perfect skiing at the nearby ski resort of Valberg, which was about a 30 minute drive and was one of the best ski resorts we have visited accommodating all levels of skiers. Unfortunately the local ski station at Roubion was not open due to a severe lack of snow this year. We ate both in at the Chalet and out and can highly recommend Chez Joelle in Roubion village who opened her restaurant especially for us. Also Le Sapin Blanc at Les Launes where there is a very reasonable set menu and the most amazing fondues!
The Chalet’s one bathroom proved fun with 8 of us staying but we soon got a good rota system up and running and fortunately there was a second loo downstairs. We will definitely be booking Julie’s chalet again very soon.
