Pretty Much Perfect
This is the best villa we have stayed in after 20 years of Florida holidays. The pictures on the website do not do it justice, as it is even more astounding when you arrive there in person. First impression is the hugeness of the house, it is beautifully decorated and presented, very well equipped and comfortable. The outside area is excellent and very well equipped. The pool is great for playing and swimming.
The outlook is lovely, with a great view of the canal. Many peaceful hours were spent gazing out, watching the alligators drifting along in the water. We used the bikes, which was very interesting. They are a bit different from ours and I was a little perturbed that mine had no brakes! But I soon got the hang of it. The area is nice and quiet, and we enjoyed a morning walk most days. The margarita maker has released a demon, however. We've just got to have one now!
We took a day-trip on the Key West Express. This was a very long day. The ferry took about four hours each way, but the drive took an hour and a half at each end. We left at 5.30am and got back at around 11pm, so be prepared if you want to do this. Also, make sure you arrive at the ferry port in plenty time as boarding is between 7 and 8am. The Conch Train Tour was really good. Key West is a fascinating place to see.
Restaurants: we went to Farlowes on the water, Primetime, Lock and Key, Whiskey Creek, The Hills, which are all fairly local. We had lovely meals at all of them and would recommend them all.
We would definitely recommend this villa, and if we come back down this way again, would really want to come back to this villa again.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the owners for helping us out when we were delayed due to Hurricane Matthew, by letting us stay an extra night. Both the owners and the management company are very approachable and helpful and made sure we were OK during the storm.
