Wonderful Private Serene and Secluded Cottage with River frontage

Surrounded by lush vegetation and the sounds of nature. There is a picnic area only steps away from the dock overlooking the River with a romantic seating area that would be perfect for an intimate dinner for two. Guests will feel as though they have simply borrowed the weekend country house of an old friend instead of renting just another mountain vacation home. The Cottage has two private master bedrooms with their own bathroom and river view. The King Master suite has a stunning private bath that has been totally renovated. In the Master King Bedroom there is a king size bed with new comfortable mattress. There are cathedral ceilings w/skylights in both the new bath and the Master Suite which opens on to a large deck with a beautiful recessed hot tub. Kitchen is nicely stocked with dishwasher and new low profile Whirlpool Stainless Steel microwave, and there is a Stainless Steel gas grill on the deck for outdoor grilling. Mineral Bluff cabin
Cabin was nice and comfortable. Given the wrong wifi password, but found the correct one in a folder. Would recommend labeling all the switches since there are so many. Heavy rain while we were there and the road to the cabin was really bad. Nice weekend and the river view was beautiful.

Great Spring break family time
We enjoyed our stay at Merry Rose Cottage. The house was as described and well suited for our family - me, my husband, our 16yr old son and our dogs. Having the river right behind the house is amazing! The kitchen is well stocked for a rental. The hot tub is lovely. The road leading to the house is gravel, has many ruts and is very narrow. We were in a minivan and did fine, but we are used to driving on such roads. Be prepared if arriving at night. It’s a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors for sure.

River Cabin
Beautiful river, nice new deck by the water. Property owner did communicate quickly on concerns. Cabin is very old and tired. Lots concerns with rotten wood and other issues. Cabin had not been cleaned thoroughly in a long time. I ask about several issues that previous reviews & had been assure they had been addressed.

A Memorable Trip with Some Room for Improvement
I wanted to share some feedback regarding our recent stay at your VRBO property. While we enjoyed our trip, there were a few concerning aspects that need your attention. The property's view was exceptional, but some issues affected our overall experience. We cleaned the property meticulously upon departure, but certain maintenance and hygiene issues were noticeable during our stay. Lack of screens on windows prevented fresh air circulation. Widespread wood rot around windows and doors compromised safety and aesthetics. Unstable entry threshold at the back door due to wood rot. Couch without back cushions made sitting uncomfortable. Mold and dirt in the hot tub. Mold in the large shower in the addition. Dirty and odorous sponge at the sink. Inadequate kitchen cookware. Mold in the refrigerator. Fireplace damage due to improper use. I've taken photos of these issues, should you require them. My intention in sharing this feedback is to assist you in improving the property, not to criticize. I understand the effort needed to maintain Superhost status and want to ensure your property meets guests' high standards. Feel free to reach out to discuss these issues or for further details. I hope this feedback helps enhance your property for future guests.

About the host

Hosted by Ann Merry

Host profile image
I was born in Atlanta as were most of my family and enjoyed the 'big city' for many years but North Georgia and its rivers and mountains were always an important part of my childhood and youth as my family loved rivers, canoeing and kayaking. We spent much time in the mountains and the rivers. I guess that's why I have finally moved here to North Georgia to live and have enjoyed this area for many years. That's me and Eva in the picture at the River! I think she's going to be a natural paddler and she already loves the water!

Why they chose this property

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in 1980 my husband and I decided to take a drive to the North Georgia mountains and ended up having a lovely picnic on the banks of the Toccoa River. We fell in love with the area and the next week went back and bought the land where we had our lovely picnic that afternoon. We camped on the property for many years and my family has had, and continue to have, many wonderful memories in this amazing place. In 1997 Merry Rose Cottage was built. I named her Merry Rose after my dear mother Mary Rose.

What makes this property unique

Merry Rose Cottage is a magical place that will always be part of me and my family and we are pleased that others are enjoying it now as well. There are so many things to do all around the cottage; of course the River is the best part to me but there are so many activities close by even though you feel totally away from everything when you're at the cottage. We are also located within an easy drive to many wonderful wineries and wine tasting venues that you will love. There's hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, zip lining, lake activities on Lake Blue Ridge, golf, tennis; just about everything! Of course the cottage is just wonderful to enjoy staying in and experiencing the the peace and quiet! ( Along with cooking some delicious and cozy dinners on the river!
