a charming villa in a sleepy town
our party consisted of two grandparents, two parents, a three year old and a baby.there was something for everybody..the house was really child friendly with cots,toys,books..a boulangerie across the road provided breakfast pastries...the bar in the square was very welcoming..and the lake provided a sandy beach, play area, cafes and a walk/running path surrounding the lake.
Great house, great place, great holiday!
Charming house, exactly as the pictures and description suggest.
The house was clean and well equipped and there was plenty of room for the 6 of us ranging in age from 14 to 81 years old.
The village, although small but has 2 local shops, a friendly bar/restaurant and comes alive on a Friday night.
The nearby lake has a small beach/swimming area, playground for children and kayaks to rent - all free!
Thanks for a great holiday.
Calm, relaxing and Superb family home.
We had a fantastic holiday at your house, very special. With the fete we timed our visit well as this was good to watch and obtain many pictures.
We made a couple of trips into Saint Emilion where we met Jean luc Thunevan and purchased some of his famous bad boy wine.
The farmers market, as you suggested, in Foy le Grande was also very good and interesting and a little purchase of Macaroons from their kept the kids happy.
The area is good to cycle and my morning run down and around the lake set up the day well. Just had to purchase a table tennis table when back in the UK, forgot how competitive that can get!
We would certainly love to visit the area and my wife fell in love with the house.
Our trip back via Bilbao was a little uncomfortable as the bay of Biscay was true to its reputation.
Spacious, well presented and charming
5 of us stayed here for a week - 4 adults and a 4 year old. The house was roomy and uncluttered so we felt we had plenty of space. There were lots of books and toys for our 4 year old granddaughter and a great ping pong table for the adults. The pool was just lovely and having enjoyed lovely weather for most of our week, we spent a lot of time in there or enjoying meals on the terrace. The pool is fenced in and also has an alarm. There are spectacular views from the room at the top of the house. We dined twice at the village restaurant L'un des Sens and it was very good but not cheap. Lovely for a treat. The village is very quiet so a car is essential for getting out and about e.g. Bergerac, St Emilion. All in all we had a lovely holiday.
We had an absolutely superb time here. We adored the villa; it was so full of character. Customer service was excellent and we had an extremely comfortable stay. Thanks too for the little touches like the roses from the garden and the delicious wine.
The surrounding area is beautiful with so much to see and delicious food and wine to enjoy. We would have no hesitation in recommending the villa and we would certainly love to return.
Does exactly what it says on the tin...
The house was immaculate. Spacious, trendy and by far the best house we have stayed in, when we've been in France (and we've stayed in a few). Ludovic, the owner, is very professional and easy to deal with, which we appreciated. The house is also absolutely perfect for kids.
The only two things we would comment on are;
- Even if it says two showers on the website, there is only one. There are two baths with showers and one proper shower.
- There were several lorries driving past the house in the morning and afternoon every weekday. This made a lot more noise than expected staying in a small village.
In total we had a great holiday. The area is lovely and there is loads to do. We would definately recommend for anyone to stay in this villa!
P.S. you really do need a car to stay at this property.

Activity and Interests
Villefranche de Lonchat is a former English bastide founded in the 13th c. The village is full of character with a few beautiful houses. It is build on the top of a hill and enjoys one of the most interesting view of the region, overlooking over 40 miles of rolling countryside. Down the hill near the village is a lake with a beach and a choice of open air activities (paddling, swimming, horse riding, tennis, etc). The village is ideally located for a historical/ cultural stay in this part of France, with St Emilion, Bergerac, Ste Foy la Grande, Castillon la Bataille, Montaigne nearby. It is also an excellent base for those who would plan a wine tasting trip to France with some of the most prestigious French Chateaux less than 30 mn away. With 2 airports (Bergerac and Bordeaux) less than an hour away, A TGV station in Libourne, and a motorway junction 6 miles away, it is an easy destination to reach.
