When we arrived, we were a little confused to begin with about who lived where and what's what. No one speaks English so please make sure you go prepared for this.
As you drive up to the property through the electric gates there's a main house to the left, the holiday let and caretakers semi detached property in front and a barn under conversion to the right.
The holiday cottage consisted of a double and a twin upstairs next to a separate shower, toilet and main bathroom with a full-sized bath. Downstairs there's another en-suite single room and also a living room and small kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with a cooker, hob, microwave, fridge with an icebox and dishwasher. The main house has a laundry and the machines are there for your use if you need them. The back door from the living room opens onto the most beautiful patio and garden with seating for 6, sun loungers and a ping pong table.
The pool is behind the main house and is just a 20 second walk from the back door. It's used exclusively by the holiday let (at least it was whilst we were there). We took our inflatables and we're allowed to use it at anytime we wished. There are no restrictions at all and you are free to roam around the grounds. It's really fun to feed the fish in the huge pond!
To address the previous post of noise. We too experienced work to the barn roof for one day. However, we asked (I messaged via the VRBO app) for the noise to stop and it did. The workmen completely ceased all work whilst we were there, even giving us a bottle of champagne to apologise.
Everyone was really friendly and we especially loved meeting 'Christian' who was so very kind and funny.
If we had any negatives it's that there isn't anything to do for children in the area. The pool was great to keep the kids occupied but do bear in mind children might get bored.
This property is perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful getaway and is wanting to kick back and stop for a bit.
I just wanted to address the previous post issue with dogs. We ate dog people and we adored having the two dogs interact with us. The owners will pop the away if you wish.
Finally, for those wondering if you should pack a weeks shopping - don't. There's an Aldi and a local French supermarket within 5-10 mins drive in Gien. There's also a retail park, McDonalds and a lovely Boulangerie.
This really is a cracking property, we would definitely return but without children.......
