About John @ Janet

We first fell in love with Barbados and its people in 1995 when John travelled to the island on business. We have been regular visitors ever since and initially bought at The Crane in 2000 when the first block of apartments was still under construction. In 2007 we acquired the whole ownership of a penthouse in The Park which has been enjoyed by ourselves, friends and family over the ensuing years.

My daughter and I spent a few lovely days at the Crane apartment. It is well equiped and very clean. The housekeeping staff are friendly and efficient. The unit is on the top floor with a roof terrace and plunge pool, which provided more relaxing than using the busier main pools. There is a panoramic view from this area and a constant cooling breeze. As well, being registered guests, we were able to access all the Crane amenities. Although there is some current building nearby, this unit is located on the other (hence quiet) side from the new structure. We were outside constantly either on the balcony or upstairs by the plunge pool and were undisturbed by the any construction activities. A wonderful location on a beautiful resort.

The condo was every bit as luxurious as in the pictures!

The condo and property was so beautiful and luxurious! The grounds and pools were beautiful! Loved the beach which we felt was, by far, the best on the island of the beaches we visited. (Did not love all of the seaweed that dominated the beach all but one day of our stay which was very disappointing.) The chef made the best gluten free chocolate mousse birthday cake which was a surprise my husband had pre-arranged and was in our condo upon arrival. The restaurants and food were amazing!! We loved our condo penthouse. Such luxurious accommodations. We would definitely stay at the Crane again...especially the unit we rented!!!

Beautiful condo with great rooftop private terrace and dipping pool

We stayed for 5 days in March 2018 and really enjoyed this condo, especially the rooftop terrace with private dipping pool. Very well maintained with high quality furnishings and comfortable king-size bed.

Our stay coincided with maintenance by The Crane of the building's air conditioning chiller, but this didn't bother us as the constant east cost breeze kept everything fresh. The fact that the floor to ceiling glass balcony doors in the bedroom completely recessed into the wall really aided in air circulation.

We only used the kitchen for making coffee but if we were staying longer we would have bought groceries and done some cooking, and used the gas barbeque. The Crane has some pretty good restaurants but they are not inexpensive.

It was nice being considered a resort guest and being able to use all the facilities of The Crane and being able to charge to the suite. The Crane has a large, very well equipped fitness center.

We would highly recommend to everyone, although if you have mobility issues, climbing the winding circular staircase to the rooftop terrace could be challenging. Ideal for a couple - can accommodate up to 4 (2 full bathrooms) but that might be a bit tight.

We hope to be back!

Very nice property

We had a very enjoyable stay at "The Crane" and in particular, John & Janet's apartment/condo. The unit was very clean and well maintained with comfortable furniture, including the bed. The bedroom was equipped with full length sliding doors and we enjoyed being able to open the entire bedroom to the nighttime breeze. Additionally, the private rooftop area was a great spot for sunning, reading and relaxing. The employees on site were friendly and helpful. We greatly enjoyed our stay at this property and would definitely stay again in the future.

the crane a little worn looking.........

the crane as a property as a whole is getting a little worn looking, it is an older property but maintenance on the grounds,pools and especially the buildings could be better. the penthouse apt itself was very nice downstairs with a few gripes. it is located in the back of the property where there is no ocean view. there was a constant loud gurgling noise from somewhere around the kitchen, the dishwasher door could not open past halfway due to it being blocked by the fridge so the lower tray could not slide out more than a few inches, the upstairs rooftop pool was hard to access by a winding metal staircase and needed a shade umbrella up there as laying under the permanent roof does not allow much breeze and the pool is basically a large hot tub---hardly a plunge pool as there are steps/seats all around on a couple different levels. but the main complaint was

the view---there was none! the pic in the ad must have been taken from the step above the pool. due to these facts we barely used the upstairs. still, the apt as a whole must be viewed as a decent deal as one of the lower priced available units at the crane and still decorated quite elegantly. there are many large lovely pools with great views on the property though. the great thing about the crane though is the beach---absolutely incredible. if you want ocean to play in the waves this is for you. the restaurants are surprisingly good and fairly reasonably priced. zen is excellent with a view to die for over the beach and when we were there it seemed no dress code applied. the village store is quite nicely stocked with necessities----canned goods, drinks etc and try their beef patties if you get there early. the gym was well stocked although again the equipment getting a little aged. overal a great place to visit although would try a different apt if we were to visit again although i'm sure that would be more expensive. we had previously lived in barbados and recommend getting a car for at least part of your visit. go to the west coast for lunch at the beautiful port st charles marina, visit the west coast beaches and walk the coastline--make sure it is low tide, you can park at one sandy lane where there is beach access and showers and an awesome beach, go to the south coast and walk the boardwalk park at rockley beach and while there find the indian grill just down the road for the best roti on the island, if there is horse racing on a saturday during your visit it is a must do.

We have already responded to a previous review regarding the location of the apartment and the views both from the rooftop terrace and the bedroom balcony. However to say that there are no views from the roof top terrace is, we feel, both inaccurate and misleading. We have made the Crane aware of your comments in respect of the general maintenance - they have responded by saying that 'they welcome the feedback which will be sent to the appropriate team members for their attention' The problems with the dish washer are easily resolved and have been referred to the Crane as has the 'gurgling noise' which is caused by trapped air in the centrally supplied pool water supply / filtration system. We do ask that our guests report any concerns to the Crane during their stay and our standard facts sheet includes information on how to do this simply and quickly. The Crane will attend to any concerns efficiently and without delay. We acknowledge that a shade umbrella would be of benefit on the roof terrace and have been in discussion with the Crane on this point for sometime as its installation requires their consent and confirmation that it meets their specification / health and safety standards.
