About the property

Converted Riverside Inn on banks of the River Wye in the Forest of Dean

With its face turned to the River Wye, and it's back to the dramatic Royal Forest of Dean, River Wye Lodge could not be better placed for a fantastic self catering holiday in the Forest of Dean or Wye Valley.

We've converted this country inn to provide the space, location and facilities which will ensure you have the most memorable time imaginable.

Indoors there's more than enough space to sleep 25, with a couple of cots for the little ones, and you all get your own bathroom of course: no sharing at the River Wye Lodge. 10 of the bedrooms have glorious views of the River Wye. The ground floor houses a fully accessible en suite disabled twin room (equally helpful for the frail, or simply those who don't like stairs).

The large atmospheric lounge has a wood burner, satellite TV, DVD player and music system, while the dining room comfortably accommodates 26 round the table.

On site, there's plenty to keep everybody amused: a games room with table tennis, pool, table football and more; a hot tub to unwind after a day's walking, canoeing or cycling in the Forest of Dean; an outdoor badminton court and well equipped playground; a barbecue area and plenty of outdoor seating where you can chill and watch the River Wye slowly wind its way to Symonds Yat.

On the edge of the village of Lydbrook the nearby facilities are superb: 5 minutes walk will take you to a wonderful country pub, an organic cafe and restaurant, an Indian restaurant and takeaway, a canoe launch opposite the Lodge, and the Wye Valley Way for fantastic walking.

5 minutes drive will take you into the heart of the Forest of Dean with its staggering array of activities for people of every age and interest. If that's not enough, you're only 10 minutes drive from Symonds Yat, Ross on Wye, Coleford and Monmouth with numerous award winning options for dining out.

If the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley is your self catering group holiday of choice, look no further - River Wye Lodge has everything you need, relaxation incarnate. Come and enjoy yourselves.

About Lewis Scott

I'm Christina Dodwell, author and traveller. The Forest of Dean and River Wye Valley have become dear to my heart. I love River Wye Lodge and hope that you will too.

Why Lewis Scott chose Lydbrook

Bringing a once famous coaching inn back to life has been a pleasure and a privelege. I hope it brings joy and success to the village where its situated and to all who share my love for it.

What makes this house unique

Where to start: river, woods, views, pubs, walks, activities, location, spring bluebells, wild boar, fantastic cycling, wonderfully warm local people. I could go on - but come and see for yourself.
