About the property

2 bedrooms (sleeps 3), idyllic village location with shop & pub, near Exeter

Cherry Tree Cottage is a charming cob cottage in a village setting, in the heart of the Kenn Valley, and only 5 miles from the city of Exeter. The convenient location, just off the A38/A380 "Crossroads to Devon", gives easy access in any direction - the coast within (15 minutes), the Exe Estuary Cycling and Walking trails (which runs from Dawlish up to Exeter and Topsham and onto Exmouth), the East for the Jurassic Coast (15 minutes), the stunning Dartmoor National Park (20 minutes), the stunning Teign Valley (15 minutes), The English Riviera, Torquay and Paignton (25 minutes), Plymouth (25 Minutes) and North Devon (1 hour), etc.

The property has 2 bedrooms - 1 double and 1 single (sleeps 3). It has an Inglenook fireplace and Woodburning stove , a Rangemaster cooker to complete the beautiful homely country kitchen/diner, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is underfloor heating in the stylish travertine wet room. The hand-made oak staircase is a particular feature of the property. There is a peaceful and pretty cottage garden where you can sit out and enjoy a glass of wine!

The village boasts a friendly and well stocked shop and a village bar (both 100 metres from the door), and just a mile away is the Ley Arms, a 12th Century thatched pub.

About Jacqui Warrender

Paul and I have been lucky enough to live in Devon for most of our lives. I have lived in Kennford for 9 years now - we live together now - just up the road! I most recently worked as a PA and Paul is our sound Accountant! We love being outdoors exploring the countryside, either on foot or on our bikes, and know that we have the very best on our doorstep. The Kenn Valley is stunning and we regularly enjoy a bike ride along the Exe Estuary trail or escaping to Dartmoor National Park for a walk and a picnic (just 20 minutes away). The city of Exeter has a lovely feel and there is of course lots to see and do. We also love to pop down to Topsham (the old Port). We hope you will feel free to enjoy the many walks and cycle rides we have left in the comprehensive welcome/visitor information pack so that you make the very best of your stay (we have done your homework for you!)

Why Jacqui Warrender chose Kennford

We do love the village. It has everything we need - with a great local shop, some great pubs and a village bar, but at the same time we are just a 10 miles from the coast and 15 miles from Dartmoor. We will never tire of this area, so we have decided to stay put and buy a holiday home so that you can get a taste of the good life!

What makes this cottage unique

When we saw the cottage we fell in love with it as it is just so characterful, but immaculate. It has the most beautiful handmade staircase and we love the exposed beams. It is a perfect combination of old meets new - with the stylish shower room, inglenook fireplace and beautiful oak staircase.

Lovely cottage with excellent facilities

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at Jacqui's cottage. Cosy & comfortable Jacqui provided us with everything we needed for a lovely week in this wonderful part of Devon. Excellent information about the area & things to do, recommendations for some great pubs & places to eat. Very friendly local in the Seven Stars Pub. We were not lucky with the weather, arrived in a hurricane & left in a storm! But it was great non the less & we got out & about every day. Thanks Jacqui for making it a lovely break for us, oh, & that wonderful cream tea that was waiting for us on our arrival!

Lovely cottage

Lovely cottage, comfortable, cosy and well equipped for a relaxing break, plenty to do in the area too. A well stocked local shop and a very friendly local pub with excellent food are just a few doors away. Perfect!

The cottage is a sweet little place to stay

  • 3 of 5

The character of the cottage has a lovely feel. But arriving late on the first night we found the instructions for finding the key very unclear as there are more than one Rose cottage in Kennford but the owner was very willing to help us when we called her. The first night was terribly cold and it was not until the next morning we realized the heating was on a very short timer. We would not recommend eating at the local pub but after our stay the owner of the cottage sent us a lovely message from the pub with an appology for the poorly prepared good and offer of a voucher should we ever return to Kennford.

Cob Cottage was a pefect fit

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was a perfect fit for my needs- close and convenient by car to U of Exeter to visit; small village had everything I needed. The accommodations were accurately described in the brochure and the place was clean, bright and ready to step right in. Directions for appliances were clear; expectations were clear. The owner met us on the first day and was quite helpful- her suggestions for two different day trips were right on target. Beautiful setting for a week long visit.

Both my husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Cherry Tree. Jacqui was a fantastic host and continually went above and beyond our expectations. I would thoroughly recommend staying here and hopefully we will be back in the future!

Quaint, cosy cottage - perfect for a winter break & would be lovely in summer too!

  • 5 of 5

Very convenient for M5 links & handy for visits to the coast & country with easy access to nearby supermarkets and not far from the lovely city of Exeter.

Well presented cottage, nicely furnished, very comfy beds and loved the woodburner!

Everything we needed and more was there. Such a delightful cottage & we had a lovely stay.

Thank you.

Kennford is nestled in the beautiful Kenn Valley, just minutes from the A38, giving easy access to explore Historic Exeter, the old Port of Topsham and the surrounding area, including the Exe Estuary cycle/walking trail, Haldon Forest for mountain biking and walking, beaches such as Dawlish Warren, Shaldon and Exmouth and the Regency seaside towns of Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth. The stunning Dartmoor National Park is a 20 minute drive where you can enjoy walking, cycling, climbing or a stunning drive with a picnic. In Devon we are spoilt for choice with so many pretty villages and welcoming pubs, restaurants and cream tea spots. Our favourites include Topsham and Lympstone on the River Exe, Chagford, Shaldon and Dartmouth. Exeter offers plenty to do including free sightseeing tours, Exeter Quay where you can go canoeing or kayaking, visit the Cathedral and the medieval underground passages. National Trust properties to visit include A la Ronde at Exmouth, Killerton House & Gardens, Knightshayes at Tiverton, Castle Drogo and Greenway House on the River Dart (home to Agatha Christie).
