About Charlotte Dale

I met my husband at Uni and at the age of 23 we went out to the Alps with the aim of running a catered chalet company - Chalet 1802. Little did we know that we would become builders and each summer over a 10 year period we would renovate three properties.

We now have two little girls and I'm an interior and lifestyle photographer, whilst my husband works in the online marketing - two skills we developed a taste for thanks to the endeavors we incurred running Chalet 1802!

We are now more hands off as far as Chalet 1802 goes, so we primarily offer a self catered chalet, but if you are hoping for a more comprehensive service I am very happy to arrange this for you!

Charlotte Dale purchased this chalet in 2008

Why Charlotte Dale chose Les Houches

Honestly, Chamonix is such a cool resort. The views are better than any other resort I've seen, the town is buzzing and the skiing is great. Summer is even better too.

What makes this chalet unique

Chalet Sous les Bois is actually my home. We move out for the winter season so we can afford to keep it! It's a really stunning property and we've poured our heart and soul into the place. It's comfortable, homely, unpretentious and a really good deal.

What sets this chalet apart is in fact the fact that it is our home. It's real, homely and loved. I've photographed a lot of top end properties in the past few years and I kind of feel with most once you've seen one, you've seen them all. A friend once described our home as an English country farmhouse but in the most amazing mountain setting. I think that's a fair description...

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much Charlote for all your help and knowledge about your luxury accomodation and the surrounding area. The train ride was a huge success. The Brevent proved to be an excellent restaurant, another huge success voted by everyone. You have been great hosts and I am so pleased I booked the family holiday with you. It has been amazing. As you will be aware there is great competition out there but you definetly go the extra mile. I must say I was a little wary of booking accomadation having to drive to the slopes however I am now a convert. The parking at each venue is second to none. My granddaughter loved the trampoline and the slide, they kept her amused for hours. I think we will buying these for her second birthday next month.

I hope everything goes really well with the business and I will recommend your properties to all my friends.

Extraordinary Chalet in Les Houches

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 13 enjoyed the most amazing and memorable week at Chalet le Bois in Les Houches. Prior to our arrival, Charlotte, the owner, went out of her way to accommodate our party and communicate so thoroughly regarding the best restaurants and activities our family might enjoy while we were there. She thoughtfully inquired about how we would like the bedrooms configured and was highly considerate in leaving staples such as bread, milk, and coffee for our arrival. Though Charlotte was away during the time of our stay, her friend, Jojo, was extremely helpful and went out of her way to answer our questions and make sure we had all we needed. When my grandson experienced an asthma challenge, Jojo immediately offered to locate an inhaler for him, which was so appreciated. The chalet is extremely spacious, very tastefully appointed, and impeccably clean. Each bedroom was so special, with an elegant private bath attached. The common room on the third floor was the piece de resistance and a wonderful place for all to relax, play games, watch TV, or just gaze out over the beautiful valley. The views of the Mont Blanc massif from the chalet are spectacular, particularly at sunrise and sunset. With 7 grandchildren, it was so nice to have the room to spread out and give them the opportunity to have their own space. It was terrific to not be able to find the kids sometimes, in light of the spaciousness of this home! A beautiful dining room accommodated all 13 of us at the table. This room also has a lovely seating area that was very cool during the warmer days. The chalet is also equipped with lovely outdoor furniture, an inground trampoline, and a hot tub; all of which were surely enjoyed by our family. The kitchen is very modern and equipped with all the conveniences anyone would desire. I would highly recommend this lovely chalet to anyone interested in enjoying rare luxury in a magnificent setting! Thank you, Charlotte, for providing our family with such a memorable experience that we will never forget!

Perfect Family Villa in a majestic setting.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 , 4 adults and 4 kids, enjoyed a fantastic 3 days in this beautiful Villa surrounded by the French Alps. We could not have asked for more - the Villa provides every modern convenience and has a modern but cozy feel. We all loved the family /game room upstairs and the kids especially enjoyed being able to run around outside in the big yard with a trampoline.

We will definitely be back.

Chalet Sois Les Bois - A Fantastic Experience

  • 5 of 5

Chalet Sous Les Bois was absolutely fantastic – everyone from 4 to 54 loved it and we would all definitely stay there again.

Everyone from Charlie, the property owner, right through to Adrian, the driver(although he was so much more than that!!), could not have been more helpful and the food, expertly prepared by Adam & Clare, was just superb…...not easy considering the age range!

As well as the top class food and service - one of the other things that made this chalet so unique was the sense of space that it creates. All too often ski chalets can be a little tight for space – particularly given there were 12 of us - but that top room in Chalet Sous Les Bois was out of this world and certainly made for an exceptional chalet experience.

Stylish Relaxing Comfortable Spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

Do not think twice when booking this chalet. Chalet Sous Les Bois is perfect for all ages and Cahmonix caters for all skiing abilites. Chalet Sous is pure luxury, with a beautiful, extensive social space, large luxury bathrooms, comfy beds which were had to leave every morning. There are also many additional touches through the house which helped to make the stay special. Of course we went for the skiing but after a day on the slopes Chalet Sous with it's hot tub, pool table, bar and trampoline were all a bous to return to. We were a family of 11 people age ranges from 2 - 60+. We all smiled every day for the week. Thank you Charlotte and family.

Chamonix is world renowned as the skiing and climbing capital of the world. It hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924 and since then has been a centre for extreme sports in both summer and winter.

But Chamonix offers far more to you than extreme sports. Sitting at the base of the majestic Mont Blanc (Europe's highest mountain) it is an area of outstanding natural beauty with an elegant and cosmopolitan town centre coupled with its internationally renowned ski area.

The birthplace of alpine history and home to the magnificent Mont Blanc- at 4807m Europe's highest mountain - Chamonix boasts a superb snow record, a long season (Dec-May), unrivaled off-piste skiing, and views to die for. Indeed Chamonix has an reputation as having some of the most spectacular and exhilarating skiing and boarding available anywhere in the world.

The Chamonix valley is huge and therefore can seem daunting trying to work out how it all works! And, that's before we figure in the neighbouring resorts. The Mont Blanc lift pass covers 8 local and 13 regional ski areas with terrain up to 3840m, over 200 lifts and 700km of piste - with the majority of the ski areas being above 2000m. It caters for all standards, from beginners right through to experts.
