Overview

About the property

"Pleasant Hill" - close to West Highland Way, Loch Lomond, Lowlands & Highlands

Stunning garden villa, with 3 triple/quadruple, 2 double, 1 twin bedrooms with 3 bathrooms/WCs. More often than not, guests use the lounge's double sofabed as a 6th bedroom, plus the main living-reception area has a further large double sofabed (nb. limited privacy). All rooms and lounges are spacious enough for flexibility in accommodating extra children or adults with bedlinen provided for all guests. All of which provides ample space for sleeping up to 20 guests (more than this if you wish to include guests sleeping on airbeds). The lounge also has a real log/coal fire to help make evenings more cozy.

Amenities include full gas central heating with radiators in all rooms, instant hot water, double glazing, real log/coal fire, good quality beds, TV in all lounges (including DVD), range double-oven cooker and hob, extraction hood, grill, combination microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, high-walled private mature garden, BBQ and children's treehouse. A 14’ trampoline is also made available for guests. There is WIFI internet access, ample off and on street parking (free), and bedding/towels are provided. Mid week change of towels is provided for longer stays. The garden provides a wide area for outdoor games or running around, perhaps whilst meals are being prepared on the gas BBQ. Other entertainment such as board games can be laid on in case of less favourable weather.

This is an impressive, fresh and beautifully designed 5-bedroomed detached villa on two levels, featuring contemporary décor with wooden floors and modern bathroom facilities. The property occupies an elevated position which affords magnificent south and westerly views with fabulous sunsets to enjoy. Guests are often rewarded with stunning panoramic vistas over nearby hills and countryside. Its new contemporary kitchen-dining-reception area is wonderfully bright with fabulous triple-aspect views and direct access via French doors and wide timber deck to the extensive garden area. Overall, there is a substantial area for both dining and seating with open-vaulted cathedral ceiling, well appointed appliances and ample solid oak traditional units throughout. The villa also comprises reception hall, sitting room, computer/study area, family bathroom with airing cupboard, shower room and additional WC-cloakroom. The house includes utility room with fitted washing facilities, single garage plus roof terrace above and plenty of fitted wardrobes / cupboards providing ample storage facilities.

The villa is set in a quiet neighbourhood and benefits from high-walled perimeters, affording tremendous privacy, yet enjoys easy access (< 150m away) to the start of the West Highland Way, Mugdock Country Park, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. The Forth-Clyde Canal, with its flat cycle tracks, is also within easy reach. It is tucked away but less than a hundred metres from the charming, pedestrian-only, luxury garden village centre of Milngavie, which is 20 minutes from Glasgow’s city centre. Off-street parking behind solid privacy gates is available for 4 cars in the driveway, with ample on-street parking also (free). Milngavie is one of Glasgow’s most sought-after semi-urban/semi-rural areas with easy access to both city centre and contrasting rural escapes. The village is situated on the edge of the beautiful Mugdock Country Park with the West Highland Way starting close by. With proximity to stunning scenery everywhere to be seen, Milngavie remains one of the most beautiful and rewarding places to live in Scotland. As well as its rich history, Milngavie is served by a wide range of independent shops (crafts, delis & grocery stores), banks and major retailers such as M&S, Tesco and Waitrose. It is only 1 minute walk to an abundance of local facilities all within the traffic-free village centre. In addition, it has easy access to leisure amenities that include sports centres, golf courses, cinema complexes, as well as Glasgow’s renowned concert and theatre venues. The village also benefits from fantastic transport links for the M8 to Edinburgh, A9 to Stirling/Perth or M74 to the South and England. With its frequent and efficient local and main line railway networks, Glasgow is not only easily accessible by car or train but well serviced by two local airports.

Business and corporate clients can make use of free internet access and the high quality of living space makes it ideal for entertaining or for family gathering events. Families with youngsters will be easily entertained by the proximity of EITHER (in one direction) the many walks, lochs and beautiful scenery OR (in the other direction) the Kelvingrove Galleries, Botanic Gardens or Transport Museum and copious concert venues. Oodles of easily-accessed bus, taxi and train transport options (all <5 minutes walk) provide access to the many outstanding cultural, sporting, music and culinary delights which helped make Glasgow into this city of culture and architecture.

Guests can simply relax and unwind in the spacious living areas, comprising a custom-made kitchen featuring oakwood finishings and modern kitchen appliances to prepare scrumptious lunches or evening meals. Alternatively, a cook can be provided to prepare meals whilst you enjoy the nearby bars, cake and coffee shops all within walking distance. Externally is a timber-decked terrace leading to the garden with its own treehouse. This exceptional villa oozes charm and tranquillity throughout and should provide ideal accommodation for large family gatherings or private family holidays with easy access to the many amenities of this part of Scotland.

Why CHRIS chose Glasgow

This is an impressive, fresh and beautifully designed 6-bedroomed detached villa on two levels, featuring contemporary décor with wooden floors and modern bathroom facilities. The property has a wonderfully bright reception room, with substantial area for both dining and seating, patio and French windows providing decked access to extensive garden, solid oak traditional open-plan kitchen with open-vaulted cathedral ceiling and well appointed appliances. The house includes utility room with fitted washing facilities, single garage plus roof terrace above and plenty of fitted wardrobes / cupboards providing ample storage facilities.

What makes this house unique

Ideal for family gatherings/events.

There is ample space to accommodate others sleeping on airbeds if required.

The villa is 100m from the centre of Milngavie, where the West Highland Way (to Fort William starts). The property is equally close to some wonderful walks - short and long - whether that's up to feed the ducks on Tannoch Loch, a brisk walk around the reservoir or further afield around the Country Park or Trossachs beyond. This is very much an outdoor activities area with so many choices - both into or away from the city centre.

We spend realy good time in villa

  • 5 of 5

Our team of 15 were able to return to stay (in 15 separate beds) at Pleasant Hill for a total of 2 months. From outset, they found the villa to be comfortable, the area to be very quiet, and the hosts to be super responsive - even to the extent of refreshing linen and cleaning the property overnight each week whilst our colleagues worked night-shifts. Throughout our stay, the hosts have proven to be thorough and over-deliver in all senses. Frankly, it's an expansive house in a peaceful and convenient location. Without hesitation, we will book this villa again when we’re next in the area - not just because of its location and the living areas (which are superb), but also because of two tremendous and dedicated hosts.

Owner's Response: Our warmest thanks to Vince and his group for their kind and courteous words and other displays of appreciation during their stay. It was all the more fulfilling to see this group make full use of the property for their comfort, and we were glad the accommodation capacity so clearly satisfied their spatial needs. Trusting the long return journey didn't deter anyone, we would love to see you all for a return visit. Haste ye back, Chris

Well maintained and well equipped. Our host Chris was fantastic and made us feel at home from the moment we walked through the door. Nice quiet area, within a short drive to Glasgow which offers entertainment for all ages. Looking forward to returning in the very near future.

Owner's Response: Our heartfelt thanks to Liz and her group for their kind and courteous words and other displays of appreciation during their stay (not least the bottles of fine Rioja). It was all the more fulfilling to see this group make full use of the wider area for their R&R during a cold weather snap. We were glad the bedroom configurations and living areas satisfied spatial needs. And although the weather and traffic meant you suffered an extended return journey, we would love to see everyone for a return visit. Haste ye back, Chris

Fantastic property & grounds in an ideal location

  • 5 of 5

We booked this Villa for a 30th Birthday Weekend, with a group of 18 people ages ranging from 25 - 42. Chris made every effort to accommodate our large group including allowing us to arrange hot tub hire to the garden for the weekend. In the run up to our arrival Chris was in regular contact with comments and suggestions to help ensure we got the best out of our stay.

Both the property and grounds are spacious, it was the perfect place to enable our large group to celebrate together and the hot tubs were awesome. The Villa is in a quiet residential area with high walls & large grounds which give privacy. The property was clean and well presented and ideally located with the town centre, train station and 24 Hour Tesco all within walking distance.

Owner's Response: We were pleased to receive Sarah’s review and follow-on message which said it all: “We had a fantastic stay at your villa, it was the perfect place to enable our large group to celebrate together.” The test trial of hot tubs presented some interesting challenges, but the party appeared to enjoy easy access between tubs and house. Seven cars parked in the driveway behind closed main gates was also a first. Overall, Sarah and her pals clearly appreciated one of the villa’s principal attractions - its suitability for larger gatherings and its privacy for special/celebratory events (in her case, its ability to comfortably accommodate 18).

Nice and Tidy house,

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 15 has been staying for 3 weeks and we have found the villa to be warm, very comfortable and provides a super base for our team. The hosts have always responded swiftly to any request for assistance. We have booked to stay for a further 5 weeks

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. It has been a pleasure to host your group who have a tough schedule of working night-shifts nearby. This has made for an interesting challenge to our servicing routine (eg. cleaning the villa/bedding during night-times), for 15 laundry washes each week and for individual cooking. Sleeping in different beds, your team members have tested and shown great appreciation for both the villa’s capacity and accommodation flexibility. They have been very agreeable and are great ambassadors for your country. Obviously we are now hosting a further group of 14 for a further 5 weeks, so we trust the second stay will be equally warm and comfortable. All good wishes, Chris

A perfect house

  • 5 of 5

We chose this house as a base for our adventure wedding in Scotland. The village looked charming and the house was suitable for our large party of 11. It turned out to be so much more! The owners are lovely, friendly, and helpful people. Chris went out of his way to make sure we were having a great time. He even loaned my new husband a pair of kilt socks for our wedding! The house is comfortable and full of everything we needed. The village of Milngavie is a short walk down the hill and the people are so lovely! We got to know the bartenders and restaurant locals and now we leave as friends. We will never forget this place and hope to visit again.

Owner's Response: What lovely, lovely guests who seemed delighted by what the villa and Scotland had to offer. So happy with and respectful of our home, the garden, the village [the pubs], the general area, and the ease of access to almost everywhere. We were so pleased we could help towards this wonderful wedding event, and we blush with pride at the happy faces beaming throughout their stay. Haste ye back. Chris

Wonderful home for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We booked this home for our first trip t o Scotland

We brought my father in law for his first trip back to,Glasgow he left over 60 years ago

He is 84 so I was worried if he would be able to navigate the house and surroundings

Chris was wonderful he made, sure we were well accommodated and checked in to make sure everything was going well

The rooms were comfortable and clean

The kitchen was, great as we were a group of 9 and were able to cook and eat without crowding

There is a second sitting area which was nice when you want to sit and read,or just relax away from, the group

The yard and scenary made it enjoyable for my father in law with limited mobility ,he could sit outside and enjoy the view

The home is within walking distance to train station resteraunts shopping. We only used our rental car for longer excursions to st andrews and the kelpies

This is a great home with attentive owner and great location.

I,would highly recommend to other families

Owner's Response: This family were such a pleasure to host. It's always a delight when guests make the most of Pleasant Hill’s capacity and amenities, especially for multi-generational ‘homecoming’ visits to Scotland. The family were able to use the wider garden space for both Pleasant Hill and the main house next door, but their own terrace and private garden area seemed to work well enough when inviting friends to join them. Such a wonderful family - we will long remember with fondness the Glaswegian-born father-in-law's obvious pleasure at 'coming home'. All the very best. Haste ye back. Chris

With its frequent and efficient local and main line railway networks, Glasgow is not only easily accessible by car or train but also well serviced by two local airports. Edinburgh is less than an hour’s drive, although many articles have written: “Edinburgh may only be 50 miles from Glasgow, but Glasgow is a million miles from Edinburgh!”
