About the property

Three bedrooms, two bathrooms with private garden

This traditional stone cottage, converted from an 18th Century dairy, is set in the idyllic Cotswold village of Minster Lovell. Exposed stone and original beams runs throughout the property. There are 3 bedrooms (double/twin/single) which sleeps 5/6. Additional bed available upon request. The lounge has an open fireplace, with 2 sofas (one is a bed settee) and widescreen TV/DVD, opening onto a dining room which sits 6 comfortably. The kitchen is well equipped, with hob, fan oven, microwave, large fridge freezer and dishwasher. There is ground floor shower room and family bathroom upstairs. Wifi included.

The cottage has its own enclosed garden with BBQ, table and chairs. Next to the cottage is a 12 meter indoor swimming pool, available for guest use at certain times. Dairy Cottage is attached to the owners house, and sits within 3 acre mature gardens, extending down to the River Windrush with lovely views of Minster Lovell and the village green. These gardens also contain a tennis court, which is also available for guest use.

The cottage is a 5 minute walk away from the heart of the beautiful village of Minster Lovell which boasts a fantastic gastro-pub and spa, perfect for a pub lunch or pint in the sun. The village contains the historic ruins of Minster Lovell Hall, the 15th Century home of Lord Lovell, a powerful associate of Richard III. This is a truly English village with picturesque thatched cottages, stone buildings and a traditional English Cricket Club. The River Windrush passes through the village.

The cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside walkways, ideal for both a gentle stroll or hike. It is also great cycling country.

Situated on the edge of the Cotswolds, Minster Lovell is within a few minutes drive from of market towns Witney and Burford. There are plenty of supermarkets, good shops and free parking. It is within easy reach of Blenheim Palace, the famous Cotswold villages of Borton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.

In addition, Dairy Cottage is a 25 minute drive to the heart of the world-famous university city of Oxford (12 miles). Dairy Cottage is also well-situated for those keen to frequent Cheltenham races (~50minute drive, 29 miles). For those who want to travel a little further afield, Birmingham, Cardiff and London are around a 1h30-2hour drive.

For those keen on shopping, the designer outlet Bicester Village is 40 minutes away by car (23 miles).

Transport links:

Bus: A bus to Oxford or Witney can be accessed from a stop approximately 10 minutes walk from the property.

Train: The train station of Charlbury is a 15 minute drive away (8 miles). Here, there are frequent services to London and Oxford.

Well equipped and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We had a family party with lots of visitors during our week and the cottage absorbed everyone with no trouble. One day we went to Swinbrook to the church and the old chapel across the field - delightful. We had intended visiting the Swan but it was simply too busy on a Sunday. Several times we took people to the ruins. We had mixed weather which made the footpaths muddy - another time I would definitely pack hiking boots.

Peaceful and Pastoral Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed three lovely days in this Cotswold cottage. Spacious, clean, and charming, this was the perfect retreat after days exploring Oxford, Stratford, and other villages. We walked through the village of Minstrel Lovell, explored the ruins, and dined outside in our own garden near the river.

Carol is gracious and generous. We would definitely rent this home again!

Beautiful place and surroundings!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great short week in the dairy cottage, which is located in a beautiful area. We received a warm welcome and all was made ready for our stay. Nearby walks along the Windrush river, blenheim visit, cotswold wildlife park were all equally nice. The house has all you can wish for, and the pool and tennis court have been well used by our children. Too early in the season during our stay, but we could imagine the nice warm summer evenings sitting at the end of the garden on the river bench enoying a glass of wine..

Très belle location

  • 5 of 5

Excellent holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

We would thoroughly recommend this cottage, it was clean and very well maintained in beautiful surroundings. It is very well equipped and as we were travelling from New Zealand we required nothing but our food. The location is exactly what we expected with excellent directions given by the hosts Carol & David. When one of our party was suddenly admitted to hospital for 5 days, we were given every care and assistance by Carol & David and it made us feel very secure when we were feeling so vulnerable. Whilst there we visited Bletchley Park, Oxford City (which is amazing), Blenheim Palace, and the local pubs - all great. We do hope to return again to Dairy Cottage we LOVED our time there. Thank you Carol & David.

We had a wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

Just what we needed for our young family, swimming, tennis and relaxing environment, the owners were at hand and very helpful. A good place to go if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the Cotswolds/Oxford etc.
