About The Owner

Over 20 years ago and with plenty of blind optimism, we sold our house on the Island, gave up our jobs, and bought this redundant farm as a family home with a vision to convert some of the outbuildings into holiday accommodation and pursue our life-style dream. Despite a lot of hard work and many sleepless nights it has been a decision that we have never once regretted.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 1993

Why The Owner chose Godshill

Paul & Rosy both grew up on the Island and after some years of working away returned to start a family. Paul is the first generation of his family not to earn his living as a farmer, but somehow it must have been inevitable that we ended up buying a farm, even if it was to be put to a different purpose.

What makes this cottage unique

We still love the 'feel' we get each time we turn off the main road and drive on down the lane to our farm. Open the 5-bar gate, park the car and start to unwind in our own little slice of the countryside.

Stylish accommodation in a delightful setting

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay in this converted barn. Lots of thoughtful details. Great location to get all over the island plus walks direct from the farm. Comfortable stay with plenty of room for a family of four. Very quiet for a good nights sleep. Good WiFi. Friendly hosts.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for taking the time to post your kind and useful review. We've also taken note of your earlier comments to us regarding a washing machine and we are installing one in the kitchen, under the counter as you had suggested.

Amazing place, lovely people, perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

We have been to the Isle of Wight every year for the last 7 years staying in a variety of cottages, caravan and hotels - Middle Barn Farm is absolutely the loveliest place we have stayed in, without a doubt! Very central, beautifully furnished, VERY comfortable beds and Paul & Rosy did not mind when our spaniel took exception to them sitting in their own house and kept woofing at them through the window!! The whole place was spotless and nothing was too much trouble for R & P to make our stay exceptional. I would confidently recommend Mallards & Robin to anyone looking to stay on the Island. The Fighting Cocks is a a good 5 minute walk away, excellent pub with serving very good food - but book early as it gets very busy. Really didn't want to come home and look forward to staying there again soon.

We are in the heart of the Arreton Valley, on the Round the Island cycle route with public footpaths direct from the farm. It is an approximate 2 mile walk or just a short drive to the village of Godshill. The town and beaches of Shanklin are a 10 min. drive or within 20 minutes drive to Ventnor and its beautiful bay.
