A superb detached south facing villa/gite with basic Intex style paddling pool ideal for kids, perfect for all sun worshippers. Situated just 15/20 minutes drive to the beach, located in the unspoilt hamlet of la vieille malvergne, 2 mins walk from the chateau, just outside the lakeside village of Martinet, in the sunny vendee region of south west france. The property sleeps up to four people. Set in private mature gardens, children can play in a very safe environment and one can relax. The 2 bedroom villa is fully equipped with sun terrace, outdoor furniture for alfresco dining into the evening. Internally the villa is open plan with new kitchen, and traditional french furnishings, log burner and UK satellite TV.

Clean, spacious property within reach of Vendee beaches.

We stayed in the Hideaway for a week in August 2016. We enjoyed visiting many of the local attractions. We found it a clean, spacious property 25-30 minutes away from lovely Vendee beaches. It is situated just outside a very quiet village, with one small shop. The accommodation comprises of 2 bedrooms, a bathroom with a good shower and a large kitchen / living area. The whole property was well equipped. The "Intex Pool" and large garden were ideal in the hot weather and will create a lot of fun for children. The TV didn't work very well during our stay and we found the furniture, whilst being very French, to be quite uncomfortable. The Hidaway is an ideal holiday property for a family happy to drive a distance to the lovely beaches.

Excellent

An ideal Villa, so accessible for our wheelchair user son. The Villa was so clean, well maintained, spacious and loads of hot water! Rural setting,safe and peaceful. The owner responded to queries immedialty and was so helpful. The beach at Les Sables-d'Olonne 20 mins drive was gorgeous. Even had Aqua Chairs to go across sand and into the sea for the disabled. The Villa is so central to visit various towns and sites. We had a wonderful stay.

I would not get there again

On paper, everything looks fine with plenty of equipment. But... I got nobody to present the house or sign any paper about the house status. The house was open and the keys on the table. The same for the last day of our stay, nobody... The gite was dirty, ground sticking to the foots, flies everywhere, strong moister smell in all the kitchen furniture. I had to put all the dishes out of the kitchen and wash it again to avoid disgusting smell. The mattress were dirty with strong dust smell, spots and no protection on it. Global storage furniture were OK. The sofas were unusable because from another age, uncomfortable and smelling badly (like in a stable). Kitchen cooking equipment is minimalist with only one 15cm pan and 4 saucepan where 2 out of 4 were broken. Barbecue full of cigarette waste and a barbecue grid that was so rusty it was unrecoverable and unusable. I would not recommend going there, it looks to me the place is only a money maker with no interest in satisfying customer with minimal hygienic and proper usable equipment.

Un lave vaisselle était indiqué dansl’annonce, or il n’y en avait pas. Je n’ aurai pas loue dans ces conditions. Par ailleurs il y avait un seul verre à pieds et un seule poêle de 10cms de diamètre. C’est peu pour 4... Sur les 4 chaises de jardin, 2 sont déchirées et ne vont pas tarder à se briser. etc etc.. Dans l’ensemble on se rend compte que le propriétaire est en Angleterre et qu’il ne vérifie pas l’etat de sa maison qui se dégrade tranquillement. Dommage car il y a un grand jardin, une mini piscine, la literie est correcte, le séjour agréable mais été déçue.
