About Paul and Oona Connell

We live and work locally and have 3 grown up children. Lower Bosulval Farm was our family home until recently and we still manage the land around the house, where we have planted over 10,000 native deciduous trees. Paul designed and built the house in 2007 using low allergy natural materials.

Why Paul and Oona Connell chose Madron

In the middle of the West Penwith Peninsula, halfway between St Ives and Penzance, the house is approached off a rural lane, up a private quarter mile track. The house sits secluded in it's own peaceful environment and has lots of very individual features both inside and out. All the living spaces and bedrooms are very spacious with rural views.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Standing on the verandah all you can see are fields, trees and the sea, not a house in sight!

Beautiful spacious house in a lovely setting

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful week in a beautiful house. It's often the little things that make an experience truly memorable...the warm welcome from Paul, the flowers, the bottle of fizz, the milk in the fridge upon arrival...I could go on! So many thoughtful things on top of staying in a really lovely house. Perfect for our family holiday...we even managed to get to grips with cooking on the aga 😊 I'd definitely recommend this as a place to stay. Well located for trips to the beaches both north and south coast, a very comfortable base.

Peaceful! Close to Penzance and St Ives but expect your car to get dirty. A great house!

Peaceful and with plenty of space indoors and out.

  • 5 of 5

The house is modern and comfortable, well equipped and easy to be in. There is space to spread out and to be together; the Aga keeps the house warm and is easy to use. We had plenty of hot water and only wish the weather had been a little kinder to enjoy the garden!

Excellent property in Superb Location

  • 5 of 5

We had great fun centred around this excellent property. It is in a very quiet and secluded location, but with only short trips to both North and South coasts.

There was plenty of space for 4 couples and 3 children. Everything is in good working order and the toys and games provided were excellent for the kids.

You must visit St Ives on the train.

We would certainly come again.

Lovely house in great secluded setting.

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic house which suited our two families made up of 4 adults and 6 children perfectly. The children loved the space inside and the garden and surrounding fields were brilliant for them. The secluded setting meant they could make as much noise as they wanted without disturbing anyone. Close proximity to St Ives, St Michael's Mount and many other great beaches and attractions meant that we never spent more than 30 minutes getting anywhere.

Airy, secluded eco-lodge, ideal group retreat

  • 5 of 5

Simpley but beautifully designed eco-lodge overlooking in gorgeous part of Cornwall countryside, with views as far as the sea. This owner built/designed home is unfussy but put together with love. We found it spacious for three families and full of light whilst being warm throughout thanks to the glow of the Arga. The space for cooking and eating was excellent and the kids loved playing in the games room and on the table football as well as running around outside. We loved being greeted by wild rabbits every time we drove up the approach back to the house and even saw a barn owl circling the field which was quite spectacular. Thank you so much for having us.

The West Penwith Peninsula is surrounded by stunning beaches and coastal walks, all within easy reach of the house. From the front door there are lots of rural and moorland walks. The whole area is covered with ancient monuments, burial sites and courtyard houses. Exceptionally low light pollution for stargazing, and very quiet surroundings.
