Lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage with delightful views and free Wifi.

Set out over three floors, Hilltop encapsulates 'quaint country cottage'. Situated in the picturesque village of Barbon close to bustling Kirkby Lonsdale, this beautifully presented home from home provides the ideal base for exploring both the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The ground floor boasts a spacious living/ dining room with wood burning stove (a basket of logs is provided for your stay) it is the perfect place to relax and unwind enjoying far reaching views towards Barbon Fell. Exposed beams and stonework create a charming space that has been fully modernised for contemporary living. The modern and practical kitchen features an electric oven, gas hob, fridge, freezer and washing machine and there is plenty of work space for creative cooks! We want you to feel at home here, so we have provided you with a little welcome basket of goodies to get you started! There is a useful porch to the front of Hilltop, ideal for muddy boots! The attractive Oak staircase leads to the first floor and the first of the two bedrooms; a spacious double bedroom (with fantastic kingsize bed) enjoying magnificent views across the village towards the Barbon Inn and Barbon Fell beyond. On this level there is a fabulous modern house bathroom with good sized P shaped bath with shower over, wash basin, heated towel rail and WC. The characterful staircase leads on again to the second floor; a super suite with vaulted ceilings and beautiful exposed beams (watch your head!) there is a double bed, TV, and wonderful ensuite shower room with corner shower, WC, heated towel radiator and wash basin. Outside, the picture perfect garden affords a peaceful and relaxing place to enjoy village life, an abundance of birdlife and breathtaking views, there is a patio seating area with picnic bench to enjoy those warmer days and evenings! We love coming to Hilltop to relax and escape the stresses of everyday life, but we have provided free wifi so that you can stay connected should you need to! There is private parking for two cars too!

Filled with charming original features yet fully modernised, Hilltop is in such a superb location. Barbon village is a real gem! The Barbon Inn and the Churchmouse Cafe & Deli are both fantastic establishments and there is so much to do without even getting in the car.

Great Stay

We enjoyed a lovely three night break over New Years Eve. The cottage is cosy, well equipped and charming. We enjoyed walking across to the local village pub where we met friendly locals and enjoyed a good meal. The goodie basket that was left was a nice touch. I’d definately recommend this cottage. Thanks x

Fabulous cottage

Just returned from spending 4 days over Christmas at this lovely cottage. We really couldn't fault anything and they had even put some Xmas decorations up which made it feel even more cosy. The village itself is nice and quiet though obviously popular for walkers as is the village pub, the Barbon Inn where we found the staff very friendly and helpful ( the food also good !). We would certainly recommend this cottage and hope to return ourselves one day.

Fabulous from start to finish

beautiful cottage in a beatutiful villlage, 10 minutes away from historic Kirkby Londsdale. Perfect position being central to the Dales and the Lakes. the cottage was spotless, had absolutely everything that you coule possibly need. Fast internet - needed to keep in touch with work. The owner was very responsive and helpful. I could not recommend it highly enough. I will most definitely stay there again.

Real English cottage in real English village.

We, two couples, spent six days here and enjoyed every minute of it. Hilltop was fairly easy to locate in a beautiful English village that comes complete with pub, shop and church. The cottage was first rate, impeccably clean throughout. The bedroom areas were generous, with comfortable beds. The woodfire in the spacious living room was perfect for cool evenings. The well-equipped kitchen was just the right size to stop too many cooks from spoiling the broth. The photos of the cottage understate its character. The village pub, the Barbon Inn, just a stroll away, breathed English conviviality, with open fires, friendly staff and quality fare on offer. The Churchmouse at Barbon, the village store-cum-tearooms, was equally impressive and just as close. There's more than enough to see in the region. Kirkby Stephen nearby is well worth a visit. It has a large supermarket, bakery, butcher and several places to eat and drink. Without hesitation, we recommend Hilltop to anyone (especially two couples), perfect as a place to stay to experience the real England.

Barbon is a fantastic village, close to the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks. Just over three miles from Kirkby Lonsdale and ideally placed for enjoying Sedbergh, Ingleton, The Lakes, Kendal, The Lune Valley and much much more. Kirkby Lonsdale is a bustling, vibrant town with an abundance of restaurants and shops, there is also a Booths Supermarket and Post Office. We know the area really well and will try our best to help if you have any questions.
