The apartment was clean and well equipped. The location is very convenient.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is in a quiet neighbourhood, located close to several restaurants, grocery store and a short walk to a metro station. The description of the apartment is accurate and we found the apartment to be clean and well equipped for our family of 4. Karin was very helpful and responded to our emails promptly. We would recommend this apartment.

Great place to start and end your day in London

  • 5 of 5

I am a little late in writing this. I vacationed with my husband and two kids in September. Finding a place that was comfortable, had two bedrooms, conveniently located to transportation, food options and affordable was not easy. I stumbled across this place and was so happy we did. Karin was wonderful to work with, even when we had issues with the Homeaway site. She met us at the apartment to make sure we had everything we needed. If you like Indian food, there is a wonderful place literally 300 feet away. I would definitely rent this place next trip to London.

Lovely and Spacious for a Family of Four

  • 5 of 5

Lovely place and would recommend to anyone who is looking for an alternative to a hotel room. We are a family of four and this flat was big enough for all of us.

Thank you Karin!

Very comfortable spot

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Karin's place was very nice.

The property was ideal for our family of 4, with lots of room for everyone. Karin herself is a lovely host that was extremely helpful to us, we are grateful for her going "above and beyond" to help us with advice on numerous things. The spot is great in terms of being close to the Portobello area, and the cafe around the corner (the portuguese bakery) is fantastic, its a must-stop if you stay at Karin's.

The little things that some others raised in previous reviews have been remedied, we found no issues at all with the property.

We enjoyed our stay in the area, it had a lot of character.

  • 3 of 5

We had a wonderful time in the area, very quiet with plenty of great places to eat. The tube was easy and reasonably close to the flat. The flat was cosy with a lovely courtyard.

Not the experience we had hoped it would be ....

  • 3 of 5

I'm not sure I can recommend this apartment to anyone without stating the following. The apartment looks like the photos shown in this listing except the online photos show a less cluttered version of the apartment. It has a much more lived in feeling when you arrive there. It was clean overall with nice linens etc. The issues I had were, having rented many apartments in previous travels, is that this one didn't bother to have that 'welcome feel' to it. The apartments we have rented before would have coffee and a bit of a starter set to get us going the first day until we can get to a grocery store etc. It has all the appliances one might need and having the washer and dryer available was great. There was no handbook available to operate the washer and dryer but we were able to figure it out enough to get the job done. The television didn't work and so Karin sent someone out to address it over the following two days. We were then able to use the television the last night of our stay. There was no handbook as well for the television. The maintenance man left a hand written note with instructions for the tv. The biggest problem of all was the unexpected heat wave that was happening. Because the apartment doesn't have air conditioning it got extremely hot, especially upstairs where the bedrooms are located. The unit didn't have any fans so I requested two, one for each bedroom. They brought one fan which didn't do the job. They said that due to the heat wave they had trouble finding fans to purchase. We had to try and place it in the hallway and let it oscillate toward the bedrooms, hoping it would move the air enough so we could get some sleep. That didn't work. We never did get a good night's sleep, the apartment was too hot and stifling. Opening windows didn't help as it can be a bit noisy outside as the neighbors seem to be quite busy at all hours. I do feel that the small things make a difference when renting these apartments. The living quarters usually have pleasant decor but having small things like coffee and fans can easily make one's stay feel welcomed and comfortable. I know record breaking heat waves are not a normal occurrence but, particularly with this one, it made our stay unbearable. A decent fan in each bedroom would have remedied that issue and allowed us to get much needed sleep so we could feel energized to go out and enjoy seeing London for the first time.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry you felt disappointed.Having no coffee is an oversight but I would like to add that the flat had everything else - more than is required . I try my hardest to make a guests stay as easy and economical as possible as I realise that buying thing like washing powder , dishwasher tablets and having a fully stocked larder etc is very costly for travellers - I can only apologise for that . As for the heat - that Is out of my controll. I don't think there are many apartments in London that have air conditioning and we did manage to obtain one cooler for you in a very unusual london heatwave - our intentions have only been good in trying to make your stay more comfortable . When it is hot , there will always be more background sound because obviously all widows are open - but the flat normally is extremely quiet . Sadly you came during a rare heatwave which coloured your stay at my flat There is a book with information - I shall get back to my agents to find out what has happened to it . Thank you for your feedback Best wishes Karin
