Les Rosiers is in the centre of a hamlet “Les Bories”, there is a working walnut farm, small cattle farm and 12 other homes. From our hamlet it is a 2mins walk to the Vezere river, which in season is great for canoeing/swimming, canoe rentals close by. We do not have any shops or restaurants in the hamlet. When you stay in the studio or apartment you can visit our delightful riverside market town of Montignac 4K away for all your needs. In Montignac is our world famous Lascaux IV prehistoric Art centre, you will also find restaurants, cafes, Wed-Sat morning market, artisan shops/butcher/bakers+Intermarche /LeaderPrice / Spar. When in our hamlet you can cross the road to our neighbours farm to buy walnut oil/l'huille de noix, in August / Sept watch him make the oil. Walks around our hamlet are beautiful, pass the Majestic chateau de Losse, which hangs on the banks of the Vezere river, opposite our hamlet or through the woodlands, fields, adventure walks abound. All delights of our rich in history and fertile land are within a 5 to 30 minute drive in any direction. As a tip - if you are a tourist in France we strongly suggest that you too take lunch - or a break between 12-14h00 as all shops/Drs/commerce/industry - except restaurants and large supermarkets will be closed during that time. Especially in the country side, everything stops for lunch, alors "when in Rome" :-), very civilised and lunch is our favourite atmosphere.

In case you do not know the region, here are a few suggestion of the very many sights to see/things to do, the list is endless.

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Vézère Valley will enchant you with its varied landscapes and its heritage. The Lascaux Dordogne-Vallée de la Vézère Tourist Bureau is there to inform you, don’t hesitate to contact them! 20 minutes from Lascaux, come visit Sarlat. Listed as Ville d’Art et d’Histoire, this city is famous for the sheer number of historical monuments it contains.

It is an immersion in the incredible history of Humanity. The full facsimile of the Lascaux caves promises you a comprehensive prehistoric art experience. Travel back in time for a few hours through a variety of modern spaces equipped with the latest digital technology (augmented reality, 3D screens etc).

Other wonderful attractions in the immediate area include pre-historic parks and caves; chateaux and gardens; and magnificent castles dating back to the Hundred Years War.

The many and varied activities on the doorstep include canoeing, horse-riding, walking, cycling and paragliding.

Fabulous home

  • 5 of 5

Lovely tiny village, excellent location. Jill is a fabulous hostess and the b and b and studio are immaculate. It really is a home from home and basically you get what you put in. you can be private or if you want company, Jill is always there offering ideas and extra hospitality. The pool is delightful, the ambiance is very warm, everything is thought of and if you have forgotten anything, Jill can probably provide it. One of the most memerable places I have stayed. Cant wait to go again. .
