Overview

About the property

Chocolate box one bedroom romantic cottage

A truly unique place to stay, but don't just take our word, please read the many 5 star reviews from our guests. Built in 1780 for the head gardener of Bewerley Hall it is full of character and original features, and only a few minutes walk from Pateley Bridge which won village high street of the year 2016. This can be your second home for a short break or even longer. With views over Nidderdale from the rear of the cottage and the cherry tree lined village green to the front, from every window it is perfect. The gardens to both front and back are the ideal place to sit and sip a glass of wine.

You enter into the cottage by the sun room with views from its windows across the stone flagged courtyard over the dale. A door leads off to a large boot room with WC, a perfect spot to dry damp clothes after a day's hiking, or to rub down your dog. You then go into the oak kitchen with the stone staircase in the corner and exposed ceiling. Lots of appliances and handy suppliers such as foil and cling film, so no need to pack the kitchen sink! One step to the sitting room with a large log burner sitting in the stone fireplace, comfortable sofa and leather library chair. There are books, DVD, CD and WiFi is also available along with an iPod docking station. It is then up the stone steps to the romantic bedroom with a king sized bed dressed with Egyptian cotton bedding. Finally the large ensuite bathroom comes with large walk in shower and slipper bath, complete with luxury toiletries .

Outdoor there is garden furniture in both the rear and front gardens so you can soak up the sun. There is also two parking spaces so no need to worry about your car if you decide to spend a day walking.

About Nigel McConnell

Nigel and I have lived in Nidderdale for nearly 30 years and we share our home with our two labs, Russ and Willa along with our Highland ponies Landrick and Pushy. We live just 10 minutes from the cottage so we are always on hand if needed and enjoy sharing our knowledge of the area.

Nigel McConnell purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Nigel McConnell chose Bewerley

Just visit the cottage and you will know why. Its warm, cosy and romantic and set in a perfect location for walking or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Harrogate is only 20 minutes drive away with some of the best shopping in the north of England. Pateley Bridge is the winner of best village high street and is only 5 minutes walk away with its excellent butchers, bakers and small supermarkets.

What makes this cottage unique

The character of the cottage is unique, we love the front entrance with its gothic style arch. For our guests they tell us they also love the location, because they can leave their car and enjoy so many walks from the front door, yet at the same time be within a few minutes of the small town of Pateley Bridge

Wonderful relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful cottage in a peaceful location. Thank you for the lovely extras of milk, wine, beers and the most tasty cake! They were very much appreciated. The cottage is beautifully decorated, furnished to a high standard, very well equipped and is very snug. and warm. The bed is very comfortable and we both slept very well during our stay. The village of Pateley Bridge was a 5 - 10 minute walk away and has a great selection of shops, and a lovely park. Nigel was extremely helpful and came over to the cottage to help us with the T.V when we could not work out how to work the remotes (we are techno phobes!). We bumped into Denise and Nigel whist visiting the Sportsman Arms, which is well worth a visit, and they were extremely welcoming and friendly.

We took our two dogs on the trip with us and they had a great time on all the wonderful walks nearby. Highly recommended for a very relaxing break.

Owner's Response: We are always so pleased when our guests take time to write a review. Everyone who stays is important to us, and giving them a good holiday matters. It was lovely to meet our guests at the Sportsmans Arms and to hear that everything was ok. Feedback on the cottage is invaluable and something we are always grateful for.

Wonderful cottage in a truly delightful location.

  • 5 of 5

Arrived late afternoon on the 29th Dec. Terrible journey stuck in snow and ice on a remote road over the moors.thanks to Sat nav error. Anyway Denise reassured us that help was on its way when I rang to tell her of our predicimant. However we where rescued by a local employee of the water board who located salt and spade.

We continued our journey and was guided to the cottage door by the incredibly patient and reassuring Denise.when we opened the door oh my what a delight. Candles flickering on the hearth. Beer and wine left out for us not to mention the milk for the so needed cup of tea.so many thoughtful touches abound.we settled in with our two old dogs then made our way to the Royal Oak pub which was very welcoming and quite happy to accommodate our dogs. Refreshed after our meal we made our way back to the cottage and enjoyed our first night in a very comfortable bed. I could go on but suffice to say we will be back. Many thanks to Nigel and Denise. A great place to stay.

Wonderful cottage, stunning location!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is lovely and a wonderful location for exploring the local area with many great walks nearby. The cottage was immaculate and well equipped, and Denise and Nigel could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Little touches like the milk, wine and beer there on arrival are really thoughtful. Thoroughly recommended!
