About the property

Chocolate box romantic cottage with views of Nidderdale

A truly unique place to stay, but don't just take our word, please read the many 5 star reviews from our guests.

There is so much to do. The location is perfect for walking, or as serious cyclist will know, Pateley Bridge was a key location for the Tour de France. For those of us less energetic York and Harrogate are a short drive away for shopping or visiting places of interest, as well as the World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey being a 10 minute drive.

Built in 1780 for the head gardener of Bewerley Hall Cottage is warm and cosy and full of character and original features, and only a few minutes walk from Pateley Bridge winner of village high street of the year 2016 and was voted in 2018 one of the best places in the UK to live. The cottage can be your second home for a short break or even longer. With views over Nidderdale from the rear of the cottage and the cherry tree lined village green to the front, the outlook from every window it is perfect. The gardens to both front and back are the ideal place to sit and sip a glass of wine.

You enter into the cottage by the sun room with views from its windows across the stone flagged courtyard over the dale. You then go into the oak kitchen with the stone staircase in the corner and exposed ceiling. Lots of appliances and handy supplies such as foil and cling film, so no need to pack the kitchen sink! Another door leads off to a large boot room with WC and washer dryer, a perfect spot to dry damp clothes after a day's hiking, or to rub down your dog.One step from the kitchen to the sitting room with a large log burner sitting in the stone fireplace, wooden ceiling, comfortable sofa and leather library chair. There are books, maps, DVD, CD and WiFi is also available along with an iPod docking station. It is then up the stone steps to the romantic bedroom with a king sized bed dressed with Egyptian cotton bedding. Finally the large en suite bathroom comes with walk in shower and slipper bath, complete with luxury Heyland and Whittle toiletries .

Outdoor there is garden furniture in both the rear and front gardens so you can soak up the sun. There is also two off street parking spaces so no need to worry about your car if you decide to spend a day walking.

About Nigel

Nigel and his wife Denise have lived in Nidderdale for nearly 30 years and we share our home with our two labs, Russ and Willa along with our Highland ponies Landrick and Pushy. We live just 10 minutes from the cottage so we are always on hand if needed and enjoy sharing our knowledge of the area.

Nigel purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Nigel chose Bewerley

Just visit the cottage and you will know why. Its warm, cosy and romantic and set in a perfect location for walking or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Harrogate is only 20 minutes drive away with some of the best shopping in the north of England. Pateley Bridge is the winner of best village high street and is only 5 minutes walk away with its excellent butchers, bakers and small supermarkets.

What makes this cottage unique

The character of the cottage is unique. We love the front entrance with its gothic style arch. For our guests they tell us they also love the location, because they can leave their car and enjoy so many walks from the front door, yet at the same time be within a few minutes of the small town of Pateley Bridge

The directions to the property were spot on with easy access to find the key. Nice touch to have a bottle of wine and a couple of beers waiting for us

Its in a great location to visit the local area Lovely day at fountains Abbey and a great day at Skipton castle. The locals are really friendly. Nice café at the bottom of the hill that allows dogs and great food at the Half Moon Inn

The village high street is lovely with shops open till 10.00 And you must visit the sweet shop

We had a lovely stay if only for four days. Would recommend

Weekend break walking in the Dales escaping three teenage daughters!

  • 5 of 5

Arrived around 4pm on Friday afternoon in February. Directions were perfect arrived at the front door and parking instructions behind cottage clear and precise.

Easy access using key safe found a wonderfully appointed cottage with some lovely touches.

The cottage provided an ideal base for two days of walking one walk started outside the front door and on the Sunday we went further afield into Wensleydale.

Local restaurant recommendations very helpful we and Pateley Bridge was a delightful town, make sure you visit the oldest sweet shop in England!

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return one regret we didn't get chance to start a fire in the wood burn maybe next time.

I would recommend Bewerley Hall Cottage for anyone wishing to explore the Dales.

Every bit as lovely as it looked on the pictures this beautiful little chocolate box cottage was warm comfortable and created a lovely relaxing long weekend. The setting and location are just perfect and I couldn't find a fault with anything if I sat down and tried!!

Lots of attention to detail and little touches really do make the difference!

I would not hesitate to stay here again and very much look forward to visiting this little plot of loveliness in the future! Many thanks for a lovely stay :)
