Overview

About the property

Spacious house with sitting room, kitchen dining, 4 B, 2 ensuite, bathroom, wc.

‘BEAUTIFUL FOREST LOCATION WITH OPEN VIEWS’.

Camusmore House offers luxury accommodation and is an exclusive self-catering lodge in Scotland’s largest ancient scot’s pine woodland.

‘LUXURIOUS AND UNIQUE INTERIOR’

Fully recently refurbished, gently warmed by the central heating, there are soft carpets and oak floors on the ground floor and cosy carpeting upstairs where the bedrooms have superking and king size beds, padded high headboards and crisp white linen.

The inset wood burning stove compliments the local slate hearth.

Furnishings are a unique blend of antique, vintage and contemporary. The oak dining table seats 8. The modern kitchen with ceramic hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, freezer, two fridges- naturally one for cool drinks - also includes the traditional Aga two oven stove, but converted to allow separate control of hotplates and ovens and many kitchen utensils to make your stay easy and luxurious. Or dine al fresco, on the lit terrace, next to the hot tub and enjoy the sunset over the highland cattle and the view to Carn Cearg Mor.

The house lends itself well to all ages, with a superking bed with ensuite shower room on the ground floor, a travel cot, high chair, baby bath and bumble seat. And a large garden and good fresh air to tire little legs.

GENEROUS BEDROOMS

Camusmore House has four individually styled bedrooms, softly lit with two offering the flexibility of superking, kingsize or twin single, one kingsize, with views to either the garden and woodland or across the trees to Cairngorm, Coire Cas and the Faicalle ridge and the fourth with views to the cattle meadow contains bunks. Two bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms with generous showers and a third is immediately next to the house bathroom with shower. There is a separate cloakroom/wc downstairs for guests use. All en-suites and bathrooms have complimentary hand soaps, plus luxury cotton towels, robes, slippers and crisp linen throughout.

HOT TUB

From its elevated location, enjoy the view to the highland cattle or Carn Dearg Mor. After a day of mountain or loch exercise there is no better way to relax than soak in the hot tub under the ink black starry sky.

It is pre-programmed to a constant 40 degrees throughout your stay with underwater mood lighting on a lit terrace. But you can enjoy this luxury at anytime of the day or night.

FUN FOR KIDS

Camusmore House has a large garden perfect for playing and sits centrally in the Rothiemurcus forest, the largest area of native scots pine forest in the UK - birds, mini beasties, deer, reindeer, flowers and fungi - and a playground for all ages and interests.

DRIVEWAY AND GARAGE

The driveway will easily accept 6 cars and the garage with secure bolting eye can store wet outdoor clothing and gear, boots, skis, boards, bikes and motor bikes.

Wow

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic cottage with beautiful scenery. We had a brilliant time in camusmore. We have stayed in a few cottages in aviemore but for me this was by far the best. We hardly used the car because a lot of the walks are on your doorstep. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Only one gripe!!! Our stay wasn't long enough. Hope to return soon. Thanks Janet and Grahame for sharing your beautiful cottage

Wonderful, relaxing stay in the heart of the Cairngorms

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Camusmore! The house suited us 4 adults and 1 child perfectly. The rooms were clean, spacious, bright and airy and the kitchen well-equipped. The weather and the midges cooperated so we were able to enjoy morning coffee and evening dinner outside every day. Camusmore is perfectly situated to take advantage of the walking and biking trails and activities in Rothiemurchus without needing a car. Plenty of good restaurants in the area and a Tesco in Aviemore 6 kms away. The little one loved the beach at Loch Morlich, feeding the deer and especially the hot tub! The cows occasionally bellowed, I couldn't get the European dryer to dry and we couldn't find the instant barbeque grill but we loved Camusmore! We'd definitely stay here again.

Excellent. Beautiful environs. Well equipped.

Excellent house for a holiday for 6. The bunk room for +2 is a bit small and drab.

We had a wonderful holiday and would recommend this house!

Owner's Response: Hi Shirin, We're glad you enjoyed your stay, but naturally disappointed that you weren't satisfied with the bunk room. We haven't heard this before. Possibly it is just less generous than then other bedrooms. Kind regards, Janet and Grahame

Lovely home near Aviemore and lots of walks

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely home and a very peaceful and comfortable place to just hang out. The kitchen has everything needed for meals and the living room has big picture windows that look out at shaggy horned cows in a green pasture -they are a delight to watch. Close by are many trails for walking. And Aviemore is close enough for groceries or dining out. We liked the Gelato place in Aviemore with fantastic donuts and cannoli.

Great location and everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

All the kit for a lovely family holiday and plenty of space for a peaceful stay.

A bath mat for the bath might be a handy addition.

Relaxing Break

  • 5 of 5

We are a party of colleagues who take a long weekend break together every year, this weekend was so relaxing. The house is extremely comfortable and very welcoming, the situation for the attractions of Aviemore and the surrounding area is perfect. We visited the Highland Wildlife Park (saw Hamish the new baby polar bear) and had a couple of lovely walks of which there are many. The garden and hot tub were ideal for an afternoon chill with a glass of wine or two, we would have no hesitation about returning and can happily recommend this property.

'BEAUTIFUL FOREST LOCATION WITH OPEN VIEWS'

Camusmore House offers luxury accommodation and is an exclusive self catering lodge in Scotland's largest ancient scot's pine woodland. And this whole area is within the Cairngorms National Park, at 1,748 square miles, the largest in the UK, twice the size of the Lake district national Park and bigger than Luxembourg. There is direct access to local walks from the garden or within minutes walk or drive there are almost too many activities to list; Four munros, climbing, ski-ing- 10 minutes to the Cairngorm Mountain snow sports centre - cycling on innumerable forest tracks, long distance walks – the ‘Lairig Ghru’ the longest high level route in the UK is a mountain path which has its traditional starting point just a few yards away and cuts between Ben Macdui and Braereich for 25 miles to Braemar without crossing a road – shooting, fishing, quad biking, land rover safaris, forest playparks at ‘Landmark’ Carrbridge, watersports centres and beach at Loch Morlich and Loch Insh. White water activities are arranged from there. Or riding and trekking at Alvie, all this under an un-street lit sky where you and your kids might just have their first real view of the ‘Great Bear’, the ‘milky way’ or even the Northern Lights.

Golf is available at Boat of Garten Golf Club, Nethy Bridge Golf Club or at the SpeyValley Championship Golf Course and a steam railway runs from Aviemore to Boat of Garten.

And for naturalists the RZSS Highland Wildlife Park near Kincraig homes over 200 amazing animals from Polar bears, Amur tigers, Snow leopards and Red pandas. A herd of Reindeer are managed on the slopes of Cairngorm and can be visited at their low level home in Glenmore.

At Boat of Garten the RSPB have hides from which to observe nesting Ospreys.

Just a mile away there is a swimming pool and cinema or for those wishing to try their hand at artistry Loch an Eilein pottery offers lessons and a shop.

Nearby Aviemore provides all the shops expected for your stay and many eating places.
